  1. Well that's all well and good...but why make a big song and dance on social media at 4pm on the day about falling short of the record, when they knew it would take days to verify? Sod social media and do your jobs properly.
  2. The Met Office really don't help themselves at times. Will be funny if that Cambridge 38.7c is legit. Especially as it's "impossible" for it to get that hot there...
  3. It was more the fallout. It's a hot day. I'm sweating my wotsits off in the garden. I'm on my phone. It was just easier to bin it all and move on from the whole willy waving nonsense and perceived guilt tripping.
  4. If we could all grow up please that would be wonderful. Thank you.
  5. If they round to the nearest odd number, why is Cambridge reporting 38?
  6. I wish the availability of the data that we pay for with our taxes wasn't so intermittent.
  7. Well this is a forum for weather obsessives so why not do both
  8. Because you're making a lot of unsubstantiated claims. It's not pedantry, I'm challenging your claims.
  9. Cambridge looking like the best bet for the record IMO. Come on!
  10. UKV has consistently had 38-39c in the Cambridge area for days leading up to this. I don't think saying it's impossible has any scientific backing.
  11. I don't think we can entirely rule out the possibility of hitting 40c either.
  12. I'd rate the chances of the all time record going on Thursday at about 50-50. UKV keeps throwing out 38-39c pretty widely, and the EC is showing 36c which usually undercooks it by a couple of degrees. Let's get that record if it's going to be miserably hot anyway.
  13. Why does the unpleasant heat have to wait for the only 2 night shifts I have this month?
  14. The largely pleasant July carries on! Plenty of beer garden-friendly weather which is all you can ask for really.
  15. A very notably dry July so far with little or no measurable rainfall around these parts, grass is starting to brown a little. Very pleasant start to the month in the main though.
  16. Almost perfect summer from my point of view at the moment. Pleasantly warm days and cool nights, could perhaps be a degree or two warmer but the wall-to-wall sunshine is very much welcome!
  17. I know I missed a dreadful couple of weeks in June when I was in the states, but I've been back 10 days and it's been gorgeous aside from Saturday which was just unpleasant.
  18. One of the snowiest cities in the US is Flagstaff!
  19. Looking like a decent start is becoming increasingly likely.
