Went to Tesco before work this morning, no problems at all. Probably busier than it would usually be at 7am but shelves were well stocked, if not full.
I suspect it is very much independent of the ban. That is, even if the ban was lifted the govt would advise against travel like they have done with Spain and Italy.
But we still have freedom of movement with those Schengen countries, and we're not faring any better than the rest of Europe as a whole. Just an odd omission really.
So the only official government action so far to contain the virus amongst the general public is tell us to keep washing our hands? Is that the long and short of it?
Apparently roads are running freely in and out of the "quarantined" regions too. It seems that the Italian version of a quarantine is very different to elsewhere.
So today's COBRA meeting will consider options. I fully expect a further meeting in a few days to consider the considerations. Then a final meeting to implement watered down versions of the considerations.
