You've got a good manager who knows you might be decent next season (when it starts)

We were excellent first half of the season, but after Christmas we've been dreadful. Complete overhaul required.

yep plenty of 0-0 bore draws on the cards then

  2. 5 thunder days so far this year, could be 6 tomorrow. Going to comfortably be the most thundery year I've ever known (in the UK).

I love it,  but I wish I could see the lightning as it is never visible.

It looks like the weather patterns get stuck in recent years. We get months of excessive rain, then months of drought and then thunderstorm after thunderstorm. But there is one constant feature, the above average temperatures month after month.

I had 3 days of thunder overhead here plus a night of watching a thunderstorm that was 20km away and I could see the top of the cb lightning almost constantly! Just rain today here but maybe another chance for thunder tomorrow.

The peat bog blaze on Hatfield Moors near Doncaster is now 'under control', say the fire service.

Already there here. Not much green left in some areas.

  5. 4 weeks with negligible rainfall. Other than the 2018 summer, can't remember such a long time without rain.

Not a drop of rain here at all yet. I think I can see the anvil from the ex-Cherbourg storm.

Hopefully tonight or tomorrow night is when I can see some distant lightning. ?

  6. Nicest spell of weather since last summer and we're stuck in doors, following on from a miserable winter. So cruel.

Same goes for snow, i think. I certainly don't hope we get a sudden cold snap and a few inches of snow.

      Take care all

Imagine here in Madrid, shut indoors in an interior studio flat since 13th March, no sunlight, no daylight, 20c days. Terrible the conditions here we need Vitamin D and natural light to build defences.

How are you coping with it?  Sounds very harsh.  How are you managing to get out for food etc.?

  7. Some cheap flights to be had at the moment...

  8. After completing the North Coast 500 around NW Scotland last week, I would thoroughly recommend it. So beautiful up there.

It was, but not too bad. The only disappointment was that the Bealach na Ba/road to Applecross was closed because of snow. We went up to Aviemore and the Cairngorm ski centre on the final day, plenty up there! Being winter meant that many places on the route were closed, but the big plus is that there were hardly any people about - bliss.

My favourite part of the world Nick, Can get very busy with convoys of campervans for miles during late spring so you picked a good time to go. If you ever get time to visit Harris do it as it's about as wild as you can get..

  9. Winter 2019/20 has now managed more thunder days than snow days around here. Impressive.

@Dami Hehe, I meant winter. Apologies for not including that.

I filmed the two thunderclaps too! ?

      Dami

@Zak M a-ha! you are quite correct about that. I believe the last time i heard winter thunder was on my husbands birthday that year.

  10. A frost would be nice! Attempted to go for a walk in the sun, absolute mudfest out there. Wake me up when Autumn ends.

No worries. There are others in the series, listed at the end of that doc. Just change the number in the URL, i.e. 02.pdf for the Thunderstorm definition doc, etc.

  13. Fantastic 4 weeks in the states with some amazing supercells and several tornadoes, as well as a hell of a lot of snow in the mountains. Back to reality today, already bored of the drizzle zzzzz

  14. Average high in Denver is 24c at this time of year. Today, they had a covering of snow with a max of 2c. I'll be there on Monday for storm chasing and it'll be back in the 20s...

    1. Scorcher

Denver has a crazy climate even by American standards. Snow has fallen in every month except July and August

It's been a chilly year so far out there. 11c and drizzle in Oklahoma and San Antonia at 'only' 18c were highlights on tour 1!

  15. Storm chasing season is almost upon us, Tour 1 begins later this week! Less than 4 weeks until I fly out myself...

Counting down the shifts...8 more to go then nearly 5 weeks off work!

  16. The irony and hypocrisy of flying 5000 miles in first class to a climate change rally is off the scale. Emma Thompson what were you thinking...?

For me to be a hypocrite, I would have to be at a protest telling people to stop flying. Think before you type, good grief. I am criticising her for joining the preachers telling us to stop flying, but flying first class to get there. I am not criticising anyone for flying, but for flying and then telling us all to stop flying.

And you never go abroad anywhere, right? ?

    3. Lauren

      Lauren

Flying first class makes no difference to the carbon footprint tbf. But I think rather than preaching, the best course of action is to promote the idea of doing the best you can rather than being militant about it.

made this point on the climate thread    just another virtue signalling person  who is more interest in how they look then what happens to the planet.  At least the penny is starting to drop with people.

  17. I regret asking to work the Easter weekend so I could get some leave back. In typical fashion, the weather is crap when I'm off next week.

Yes, I have the joy of Friday, Saturday, Sunday night shifts aswell. I knew as soon as I was rota'd on for them it'd be glorious weather.

I'm on nights Sunday and Monday. However, I do have a window of opportunity. I finish at 6pm on Saturday, and then onto nights on Sunday, I may be able to sneak some beer garden in.

Why on Earth did they change it? The new site is abysmal compared to the old.

    3. Nick L

Just like every other website "upgrade" really. Why so many companies feel the need to change a perfectly functioning website to one that is garbage I'll never know.

A few things have already been fixed on the new layout - some progress being made. I send my data to WU but only use it to view stations that are under some extreme weather. It's great having my own site for for more detailed stuff.

  19. Windy across much of Europe this week, Jurgen Klopp must be worried

  20. I don't think my Scotland road trip in a couple of weeks is going to include many snowy scenes...

    2. Nick L

      Nick L

Nah that would have been a bonus. Last year would have been too much as driving would be a nightmare. As long as it's not drizzly murky crap I'll be happy.

  21. What a stunner of a day, truly springlike. Got me in the mood for storm chase season...speaking of which, 100 days to go!

  22. 6cm at 5am and still coming down nicely. Really good snow event, powdery snow too.

  23. 4c and rain? Vile evening. 4 months until storm chasing...

  24. Snow, yay! This has now officially beaten 13/14!
