I agree, its ridiculous isn't it?  I think people are forgetting what heat and cold are.

Your insulation must be absolutely on point! Even my house which may as well be wrapped in a duvet is at a very comfortable 21C.

  5. Back from my Arizona chase! Got some stunning lightning pics to upload. Now the long 9 month wait until I next see storms :(

  6. Mid way through the Arizona storm chase, temperatures regularly into the mid 40s but biblical lightning. Also a beautiful part of the world.

    1. Daniel*

Anything 40 odd a no go for me..

July 1 2015 or 16 it was 35oC with humidity felt like 40oC. It wasn't nice.

    4. Weather26

Right someone reset the model, they're drunk.

  12. There is nothing to suggest us hitting 35c next week, let alone 40c! Where are these ramps coming from?!

It's disappointing to see respected posters shouting 35-40c in the MOD thread, there is nothing of the sort being shown. It's staying very warm with occasional 30s but nothing extreme, thankfully. However, it wouldn't take much of a synoptic shift to push us well above that.

    3. lassie23

i hope it rains soon as fires are breaking out and deep cracks are showing up everywhere

    4. weatherguru14

Louis Lear? another  bbc lovely 🙄

  13. Screaming kids, howling dogs, drunk parents of said kids allowing them to play truant...ah the sound of summer

Largely, the sights / sounds / smells of "council" then?

  14. 10,000 miles and 3 weeks later my first storm chase of the year comes to an end. Despite a very difficult season we still saw tornadoes, numerous supercells and epic lightning. Roll on Arizona next month.

  15. Heathrow today, Texas tomorrow! :D

  16.  Will be boarding my flight to tornado alley this time next week :D

    1. mikeofmacc

I would almost say it's cold, but I won't because I definitely have no life.

Well compared to what we'll see in 7 days time, the weather today is far more preferable. Actually had some hope of the weekend being nice (20 or so) ECM 12z is a nightmare and would produce mid-high 20s widely if it verifies. Thats too much.

  19. Really cool and fresh few days coming up!

    1. Dami

      oh goody:nea:

  20. Ridiculous rainfall totals in the offing for Sunday/Monday. 100mm possible in the SE if some output is to be believed.

  21. Start of Tour 1 coming into view on the GFS, chase season is almost here! :D

    1. jtay

The GFS suggests that it might finally kick off Tue/Wed/Thur next week. Let's hope that's just the start.

    2. Mokidugway

Might be in Oklahoma at beginning of June on business for 5 days , might get lucky 😀😀

    3. Nick L

      Nick L

Yeah a few days of fun before it quietens down again by the looks of things :( And I'll still be out there until mid-June Moki so I'm hoping it will be active too!

  22. Now why can't all summer heat be like this? Lovely!

All I've done these last 2 days is sneeze. My head's banging and my already pathetic tolerance for heat is sorely under strain. I don't know how you southerners do it. I would have topped myself long ago.

When I was out, I was surprised how I tolerated the heat as it usually makes my joints swell and ache a lot.  It is a lot cooler indoors, I have got my cardigan and dressing gown.  I might have to out again to get myself warm.

  23. Ava, Oklahoma started the day at 0c. It was 38c by afternoon. What a climate.
