  1. Oh thank F...ishfingers for that! Sudden temp drop to 0.7c and it has finally turned to snow. Only fine and light but it's snow.
  2. Well as long as it is snowing heavily over in Cannock itself then I don't mind - anything to get me a day off!
  3. Yeah parts of Wimblebury (anything funny about that one Andy  ) are 250m, will almost definitely be snow there.
  4. WHAT?! I am in Norton Canes! I am off to the lamp post, be right back! Nope, still heavy rain
  5. I am starting to concede that we will not see snow tonight. Conditions seem ideal, dew point about freezing, heavy precipitation and a temp of 1.1c - and it is still raining. I even have decent elevation of 145m. My apologies go to those who I doubted.
  6. Temperature 1.4c and dew point 0.6c, both falling. Should start to turn to snow very soon.
  7. Is that moderate PPN over Hereford anaprop? It has been stuck there for ages.
  8. Yes. If heavy enough, snow can settle on very wet ground, provided it has both the intensity and the cold temperatures. Another problem is that the rain will wash the grit away, and with the shortage of it this could cause some major problems in the morning. Temp now 1.7c, surely it should start to turn wintry soon?
  9. Well the weather is crazy sometimes. Yesterday it was snowing at 3.7c. Today it is 2.0c and it is lightly raining - but it is very cold rain with the odd icy bit thrown in. But this is all expected so let's see what happens
  10. If heavy enough it can. It happened to me last night. Last October was a good example. And remember January 2004? That occurred because the rain washed the grit off the roads and froze.
  11. Hot off the 18z GFS: http://www2.wetter3.de/Animation_18_UTC/30_30.gif http://www2.wetter3.de/Animation_18_UTC/36_30.gif I won't get 20cm of snow no, the higher ground in the Midlands will get that. But I am certainly hoping to get at least 2 to 4 inches.
  12. I know, I know. Some comments this evening are quite bizarre.
  13. He did say the northwards extent was uncertain, but he then went onto say the Midlands would still be worst hit.
  14. The words of Jay Wynne on the 10 o'clock news forecast: "The Midlands really baring the brunt of the snow, with 2 to 8 inches here" Still looking very promising
  15. Although a bit of a harsh comment, I agree with your general point. It seems that it is a case with some people of "if I'm not having any snow, then neither is anyone else" which really isn't helpful.
  16. Ok we will agree to differ, but you are going completely against the Met Office, BBC and Net Weather forecasters - very brave of you! Watching the latest BBC forecast now, and with 24 hours to go they still haven't changed their tune a great deal.
  17. That's because it is happening overnight, and that forecast you quoted doesn't seem to include the overnight period.
  18. Could you perhaps provide some basis on your claims? And don't simply post the PPN type charts because they discount snow everytime the 850s go above -5 - which isn't always the case. The BBC are showing heavy snow. The Met Office are showing heavy snow. And the respected posters and forecasters on this very website are forecasting heavy snow. It is going to take a heck of a lot of persuading for me to be dislodged. If the BBC have backtracked monumentally by the morning, I may change my viewpoint, but at the moment I believe it will be mostly snow for my location.
  19. I am trusting the professionals on Net Weather, Met Office and the BBC on this - surely there must be other factors in this. But if it does fall as snow, there is going to be a hell of a lot of it.
  20. The precipitation has moved further north yes, but over the Midlands it is very, very heavy, and most importantly, the mild sector has barely budged at all.
  21. Andy I think you need to have a break for the night and see the situation in the morning, otherwise you are going to worry yourself to death! BBC still not backing down. Let's just wait and see how it pans out
  22. Well if the BBC are going to backtrack, they are leaving it very late. People will be quite annoyed if the forecast changes dramatically at the last minute.
  23. Lol you seem genuinely excited  It does pose the question though, why is it only the Icelandic Met Office that shows it?
  24. On the Iceland site the charts for some reason do indeed go from T0: http://en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/atlantic/ Not sure why WZ or NW don't do the same.
