that's small I have some with 4 inch and is not just 1 is dozens, they have small body but long legs :p

      Evening thunder

Haha it went swiftly outside (once I'd managed to place a cup over it)

This one had a reasonable sized body, and moved very fast! May have been more like 3 inches with legs stretched out..

  2. Kind of looking forward to some rain tomorrow actually, it's fairly dry around here. Been a good summer so far, I'd rather have a good dump of heavy rain in one go tomorrow rather than keep getting bit and pieces of rain and cloud for many days.

Need rain here in London too!

Let's hope it's just a quick heavy dousing and then summer to continue.

Yeah that may be nice MP-R, not sure it will happen but doesn't look too bad, hopefully something like triple_x1 says.

Tbh I wouldn't mind changeable weather as long as there's reasonable sunshine and temperature amounts in-between, and any cool/unsettled weather doesn't last all month

  3. Wonder if this will be another above average month but with limited temperature extremes?

    1. Richard2901

      Richard2901

Yes another ridiculously boring month with no extremes. Only just managed to hit 20C yet at the same time just 3 days below 16C and one of those was 15.9C. Only one min below 10C in a week and that was 9.7C.

  4. Another event showing there's actually more/better thunderstorms at home in Devon than here at Egham in the SE, at least in recent years..

  5. Warmest day of the year so far back home at 18c

    1. Eugene

      Eugene

Yes 15C here too, felt quite warm infact

  6. How I'll probably remember this winter is disappointing for lack of cold/snow but certainly not boring.

  7. Saw a Red Admiral butterfly on Dartmoor yesterday! It landed on me too..

  8. -4c in parts of Kent +14c in parts of North Scotland

  9. Today >>> Yesterday

      Greater than? Milder than?

    2. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

      Greater than yeah,

yesterday was dull and stagnent all day with a haze probably from cars or smoke, but today was a beautiful crisp autumn day with sunshine bringing out autumn colours

  10. So much for the sun forecast here, could have done with it today

  11. 48mph sustained gusting 75mph well inland at Yeovilton, Somerset. Perhaps the warnings/forecasts weren't quite as wrong as some thought?

    1. Andy Bown

      Andy Bown

Yea it whipped up through halfway between those stations here around 5-6am!

    2. Bristle boy

      Bristle boy

I think we've got off lightly in Bristol. At the mo it's just a normal windy autumn morning. In the early hours i never got woken at all by strong gusts.

    3. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

Yeah, the warning area extended a bit too far north though they have to make allowances for if it had shifted say 50 miles north

  12. Saw a squally storm on Sunday, another thunderstorm last night, and breezy with sunny spells today. Not bad and better than most of the colder spell earlier this month which was mostly cloudy :)

they weren't especially spectacular or active but count as storms

  13. Ah yes the 'GFS is overcooking the Atlantic and I can tell from 10 days out with my crystal ball' posts have started already

  14. And the award for the most consecutive nights above 15C this year (at home in Devon) goes to.. October!

    1. March Blizzard

      March Blizzard

Some stupidly high October minima...I hope the cloud sods off soon so we can have pleasant days and cool (foggy) nights.

i spent 2 weeks in Devon in july not once did it go below 15c

    3. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

It did at my house. I am in a valley which gets cooler on clear calm nights so we didn't have more than 3 nights in a row above 15C.

  15. Yet another complete fail for any kind of interesting weather in the Egham area (even heavy rain..)

    1. MP-R

      MP-R

This is one thing I don't like about being in Egham - the weather is dead 90% of the time.

Tell me about it, the only good thing I remember last year was the snow in January - but I just happened to miss most of it on a field trip to Spain.

I used to complain that home was so boring for weather, but not any more..

Same here, always same old story zzz

  16. I think winter will be colder than Autumn

    1. Captain Shortwave

      Captain Shortwave

I believe there will be no snow on the 17th February, 23 years and still no luck. Good odds I'd say :p

  17. I like days like today, breezy with sunshine and showers where the howers make things interesting with gusts up to gale force when they arrive

  18. So basically if someone has a difference of opinion to the government it just calls them misguided, or biased or an 'absolute disgrace' etc.. lol

    2. Summer Sun

      Summer Sun

yeah now those in the south know what its like when we get the cloudy muck of the north sea today its the other way round for a change

    3. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

Yes got the name from that just changed the sea lol, As William says thankfully it's now gone :) though just offshore still and it's cooler than inland (20-21c here)

  22. Grey most of the morning but turned into a beautiful afternoon almost reaching 25c.

  23. Why do I keep seeing adverts on the internet and youtube trying to tell me Britain will implode financially and saying things like 'The end of Britain'?

    1. Bottesford

      Bottesford

Cause they're everywhere much like the 'one weird old tip for cutting belly fat' blah blah...

    2. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

Haha probably. its done some people that according to themselves predicted most things about the recent recession, but I guess if they say things enough, it sort of helps them happen as people would avoid this country..

  24. Grr why do the models all agree on something and then all change
