Yes the app has upgraded for here too, now showing mostly heavy snow during daylight hours. All snow showing for work in Birkenshaw. Got dentist in Garforth at 6pm so will be a doubly stressful commute tonight

Harsh Climate I'm working at Birkenshaw (150m asl) tomorrow so hoping for some decent amounts there, would agree our home locations look more dodgy, but at least we've got some interest to get us through to the cusp of the weekend. And never rule out surprises when it comes to snow, be they good or bad ones! 🌨

LeeSnowFan Good grief we'd all take that surely? What a day that would be if it happened! Fingers crossed 🌨

Had some unexpected flurries through the morning here at work in Cleckheaton. The peak of the cold spell

Non event for here, not that it will stop those in the MOD thread from claiming the next blocking high will be more resilient against attacks from the Atlantic than modelling shows My experience is the opposite is true at least over recent years!

Snowing lightly and settling at Cleckheaton, less than 100m asl. -1°c

Seems to be light sleet and ice pellets here. Hard to see in the gloom

Looks heavier than I expected. Not sure what will happen when it hits at this elevation.
You've got a better chance than us lowlanders that's for sure. I'm not sure how high up the warmer layer of air is though to be honest

Think it will be a 300m+ Event, even there freezing rain a possibility
Queensbury is the place to be on days like this.

Glad I didn't stay up to track it and it would have thawed a bit anyway so no big loss now.
Let's see what tonight brings, probably just cold rain.. lower atmosphere very saturated now and dew point wrong side of freezing so little chance of a nice surprise later
Indeed it's rare to go from fog to snow at this elevation unfortunately

Similar amounts here in Kippax perhaps a bit less. A bit disappointed that the heavier stuff stayed just south of here rather than what was modeled (was supposed to be a bit further north the heavier stuff.)
The dreaded Garforth Gap in the front. Was such pathetic effort here I didn't even do it the honour of taking a picture

Now got thunder from the west and both lightning and thunder in the south. And a nighttime storm to boot!

Check out the radar between 8:45 and 9:15pm, development out of nowhere between Leeds and Castleford /Wakefield and just heard the first rumble from that, so it doesn't take long!
Sorry, corrected the times on that!

Some nice storms here in the circled area when I just checked
Looks like this is heading due north so at present looks like I'll be missing out and getting that annoying gap to our south between this lot and the Kent storms.
This is unless the main area builds eastwards or that gap to the south sees storms form to bridge the gap between the two areas of storms.
Looking from east Leeds, I'd say there is convection on the east edge of the system but only as far as the A1 roughly, at least this far north. View from here looking very slightly east of due south.... May have to zoom in!

Although it is changing path to a more northerly direction, I might not have to drive anywhere lol
I feared it may be going well east of us the main storm, you thinking we might be in for a direct hit? Tha is if it doesn't die as it hits leeds like normal..
Would be a rare 2 in 1 day for us if it happens. I'm not sure it's as humid out as it was a couple of hours ago though so there's a risk the earlier trough has used up all our potential. Looks elevated though so may not be a problem...

Either the lightning detector is missing stuff West of Sheffield or Manchester Airport has put a load of planes in a holding pattern round there because there's a persistent rumbling coming from that direction!
-
Rapid development of something to the west of Sheffield since 7:15pm. Gone very dark to my south and I think I can hear a low rumbling from that direction

As I mentioned last night, these events always surprise either for the good or bad, today was good, some videos and pictures from Birkenshaw at work. 7cm there on car, about 4cm at home in Garforth.
