  1. If the radar is to be believed, there's more activity out east than I was expecting. Might see a flurry after all.
  2. First day back walking today and it had to be wellies, which doubled as ice breakers for the first bit out of the village. Downton water meadows aren't walkable, so stuck to the farm track.
  3. Thanks. Going to borrow next door's metal detector tomorrow to see what else is there, before I grass it over. So far it's been Oxo bottles from the 70s, which are nice for putting sweet peas in, but this coin has made me take a bit more notice.
  4. The lower cellar floods all the time, even though it's tanked. There's a void beyond a really old arch that always has water in it. I gave them a dehumidifier when they moved in, that runs 24/7 down there. The vid that they sent of the water gushing through the garden and down the street was something else. Very lucky and glad of this dry spell to come.
  5. Anyone know anything about cleaning old coins? Just found one of these in the field... It looks like the low tide version, which is apparently rarer.
  6. OH's Bro and our Sister in law had a lucky escape on Thursday night in Nunney, nr Frome. They have a bricked in stream that normally trickles through their back garden. On Thursday evening it was raging and flooded their back garden and patio. So close to breaching the patio doors. The cellar was flooded, as was next door's downstairs, along with others in the village. Sounds like a nightmare.
  7. Cracking day. Great to have a full day outside in the Sunshine. Next door has excavated a few bulk bags worth of soil from their garden for their new wall and we need the same amount for our slope . All got to be shifted with a shovel and a wheelbarrow. If I'd thought about it, I would have bought some BBQ stuff for when we're done. Nevermind.
  8. Horrible out there. Dropped the OH in Waitrose and wandered down to see how they're getting on with the Salisbury River project. The planting from 6 weeks ago is now well under water. Took my fishing brolly, so was able to escort a drenched Mum and pram to the clinic along there. Popped to the garden centre on the way back for an extra soaking.
  9. Got away with it today. Pretty sure we just saw a male Hen Harrier out the back, which is a first. Will have to ask our resident bird man.
  10. Shock, horror. A whole morning outside without rain interruptions. Bit of mammatus hanging off the back of the cell that just slid to the South.
  11. As I always tell the m-i-l, who has a vicar in the family; never trust anyone who lies for a living.
  12. No, no and no . It's Dec down day. Get it gone. Inside decs coming down tomorrow morning during the deluge.
  13. Yeah, Purbeck was starting to vanish as we left. We were going to walk up to the ferry and round over the rocks, but checked the radar and then cut the corner. Outside lights down now, so settling in for the darts. Off this week, so back to digging if the rain ever stops.
  14. Ha. Walking typo. Sandbanks was heaving.Sunny when we left home earlier. Drove back in the rain. Now to take the outside lights down. The most wonderful time of the year.
