  1. I see some of the models are gathering the troops at the top of the usual spot again.. Who knows, I don't. Maybe this time something promising could be at the end of it, but on the basis of previous 5-7 day predictions I won't be getting up from the garden bench just yet.
  2. Specks of dust (sorry snow) falling here, and now we have conditions seemingly ripe for snow, it's patchy and light. I think this winter's on a wind-up. Already thinking of spring.
  3. We might be sharing a bit of the continental cold into next week if it spreads westwards.. ...probably won't happen but in the meantime... ...zzzzzz.... at least it 'won't be as mild' into the weekend.
  4. Depressing theme continues with one of the most 'uninspiring' weather for the week ahead's on Countryfile. Grey cloud throughout and bits drizzle and murk around but.... .... at least it will be mild. If you ever wanted a week away from net-weather without wanting to miss anything.. next week is it.
  5. Of course now that it's a bit milder and there is no cold air to fight against the moisture has no problem setting up camp and wringing itself out over the region. Dull, wet & mild the order of the day.
  6. No surprise that we are in the 'mild' club of Europe...a lovely wet day in store for tomorrow.
  7. A whole week or more we talked about this cold spell, which was shown to be quite potent right up to the realisation that the low pressure nudging up from the south would subdue the colder air from the north west. It just seems scant reward sometimes for the amount of discussion , analysis, commentary on models 4 times a day, just to get a slushy covering when finally does arrive. So when's the next merry-go-round going to be?
  8. Bit of a slushy mix this morning, a decent covering left from overnight snow from the southerly tracking low, but with no further snow after 7am and sunny skies, footfall and traffic...the snow soon went into it's decomposing slushy state. Forecast for more snow showers later but looking at the radar they look to far west at present.
  9. Snowing readily now, all surfaces covered. Now for the nightmare of getting to work. Wish it was the weekend
  10. Well that last shower has whitened most surfaces outside. Starting to drift off now, so here's hoping a few more showers stick overnight.
  11. Wow the Irish sea is starting to come to life!
  12. The front just coming into north scotland appears to be more westerly positioned than I would have thought. That could be good news when we wake up early tomorrow.
  13. Lightest of snow falling here, just leaving a dusting. Surprising, an hour or so ago the showers seemed to be dying out over land, now they are at least maintaining their energy off the Irish sea.
  14. ...and that low pressure system which was a real nuisance for our area, has allowed somebody in Kent to build a snowman! This just wasn't our day today, we'll bounce back though...
  15. Usually Gtr Manchester area (especially higher ground to the east) does quite well in this setup.. I've got pictures in my Gallery from Jan 2010/13 following foot fall deposits. This one though was given an uppercut spoiler by that low butting in from the south west earlier today, and now it's dead on it's feet.
  16. Yep, I'm calling it quits too. Inlanders aren't going to get much from these showers. Decent nears coastal areas nearest to the Irish Sea but energy is evaporating over land. Maybe there will be a dusting into the early hours from the system dropping from the north...
  17. It probably won't verify to this extent, but it's still best to tuck an extra cardigan in your bag....
  18. The Greek Islands and Costa Del Sol could end up having a more impressive winter than British 'mild, dull & wet' Isles.
  19. That might just graze by but it won't have much legs on it anyway by the time it get's here. There's a few bits and bobs waiting behind that, and a cheshire gap streamer seems evident for ppl living in those areas.
  20. Yep, not much better when she has a day off and you get Eno 'contradicts herself every 3rd word' Erator.
  21. The showers appear to be dying back as they travel over land, so areas near the coast might see passing showers but I think areas east in the region won't be receiving anything decent. Diane Oxberry in 'I told you so' mode and positively euphoric at Sunday's mild temperatures.... okay, okay you win this one.... we'll get you back some day.
  22. It would be good to think all those beefy showers between Ireland and western scotland would keep up their intensity and make a bee-line for the north west. We could be in for something decent then.
  23. mmm.. I don't think it will be as 'productive' as 2010 but it's good to see the Irish Sea is in ' shower generator' mode. It feels much colder now, have we passed the point of marginality? Could be an interesting night ahead for some. Temp 2c DP 0c
  24. Had a few wet wintry showers while out at work today, nothing that stuck for too long. Agreed shame about that frontal system from the south mixing out the potential for something more decent. Still a chance maybe through the night, but not holding out too much hope.
