  1. Quite a surreal situation here on the coast just to the east of Brighton. Gale force winds and driving snow, the roads remind me of ice road truckers, quite amazing at anytime but for mid March.
  2. Just a few miles East of Brighton right on the coast. Steady light snow since 8.00am, with an increasing intensity. The accumulations have been steady too on top of the snow from Friday. Snow now has become heaviest of the day with bigger flakes, it really has added some good depths and continues .....
  3. More intense snow at present, fine flakes though. Peacehaven, Sussex Coast just East of Brighton
  4. Here in Peacehaven 7 miles along the coast from Brighton ( East of ) we have continuous light snow with some decent intensity, laying well again. How long is this band programmed to be with us today, is there a second band or greater intensity due throughout the day, or is it due to fizzle out?? Thanks Guys.
  5. We have been hit here severly today and it carries on at the moment, with drifting snow and presumely more to come. It does seem that others have missed out, others that would normally be considered as 'favourable areas' in this type of set up as compared to us ( which is Peacehaven, several miles east of Brighton and right on the coast ). Thats what makes weather watching/forcasting such an interesting and difficult pastime. So although I acknowledge the disappointment of some, there are many that are having nearly historic snowfall at present, us included. It has been bitterly and unrelenting cold with days of snow upon snow. It seems we got lucky this time ;-)
  6. Its been a great spell for us here right on the coast at Peacehaven just east of Brighton. Today has been sub zero and this afternoon we had some heavy drifting snow with a genuine blizzard for sometime and snow still continuing now. Absolutely no thaw with powder snow, quite severe drifting that might make the main coast road difficult to pass tomorrow am. I have attached a few photos, hope this is the right place to put them, but remember this is of the coast road a stones throw from the cliff top without any elevation, happy days ;-) PS: Please forget any dates on photos, substitute camera, these were taken approx 4.00pm today !
  7. Thanks for that. Wonderfully wintery day here. Overcast and freezing, with plaenty of lying snow. Good luck Cheers
  8. Hi Jason I am along the way at Peacehaven. Is this 'Streamer' travelling West or South West, or might it slide right past us !! Just your thoughts as I do not have access to the radars. Cheers
  9. I would suspect that the Meto know that such long range predictions based on their data are likely to be inaccurate or if accurate just got lucky to a point, there must be so many variables. The problem I have with it is if they feel commercially compelled to offer such unlikely predictions, I assume they gain a significant income from big business from offering long range forecasts that their own professional credability can sometimes be comprimised.
  10. Had some great dry cold snow here in Sussex. Still snowing now, but I am presuming that this isn't the next band of snow that is forecast. Is that due later ?? Do we have an approximate time and likely areas that might be in the firing line ???
  11. Woke up to a smuttering of snow and nice and wintery. Started to melt just a bit and was assured by the radio, that sunny skies were the order of the day for this afternoon. Has got quite dark and is currently snowing again, didnt expect this here on the sussex coast !! Whats happening ;-)
  12. Didnt really understand any of it, however I found it really quite interesting !! It was also helpful to me to put faces to the guys that post such in depth analysis. Although I accept that each one is an expert, I wondered if that could be somehow qualified by offering each guys own, qualifications, experience and professions or whether just enthusiastic amateurs. But as I said earlier I really enjoyed the discussion, thank you.
  13. I am baffled The weather warnings are persisting even for Southern Coastal regions ! What am I missing.....I just cannot see any real chance of any snow for these areas. Ok maybe some sleety rain for a while, but unlikely. The track of the lp looks unlikely to deviate to an extent that would effect us here on the coast, of course further North any devation will effect the marginal snow/rain area. Or am I missing something.......tell me I am wrong and indeed Sussex Coast will wake up to a foot of snow Good Luck
  14. Something that was different for me was that here on the coast we had a surprise snow for Wednesday morning, nothing spectacular, but it hung around for most of the day and my boys could go sledging !! But it was the 2nd phase which was 'nearly' different. There was a chance that we would of had more snow Wednesday night Thursday morning as well. Which as I can remember is unusual in recent years. The 2nd phase never really materialised with only a 'sugar coating' but how long since we have experienced a decent snowfall without a major thaw only to experience a phase 2 event ?? I can remember it happening in the late 70's here in Sussex with some real snow only to be topped up with more snow........great times !! Regards
