  1. Are you suggesting -4C/-5C is not possible in April Stephen if so a very risky thing to say as all you need is some arctic air and calm conditions for that to occur which the runs show tonight, tonights JMA and ECMWF look like particularly wintry setups. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1681.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1682.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1681.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm2401.gif
  2. Wow i thought i clicked on the wrong date here but no its really only 9C/10C in parts today with overcast conditions and a chilly wind to boot, just awful for mid April. http://www.weatheron...TIME=1271075803
  3. Where's the 20C+ in GFS FI gone?..... its all going pear shaped again, damn spring
  4. People who take things too literally should worry more about this than the odd GFS FI outlier
  5. LOL yes it will definately move over us and it will definately become warm in almost two weeks time just because GFS says so its the governor
  6. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/MT8_Manchester_ens.png Looking very chilly and unsettled next weekend i notice a dip from yesterdays 850's as ever the end is an outlier.
  7. Falling snow is possible anytime of year, the daylight length isnt as important as some say ,its the airmass origin that is most important, we lose any lingering arctic airmasses to our far north after lets say mid June but i'm sure if we did actually have arctic air left to tap into it could snow even in July and August to lower levels in england. The pattern we are in currently is actually a cold one, today and tomorrows warmth are just what happens this time of year as HP retrogresses northwestwards.
  8. Not so sure about that, The last two GFS FI runs and other ones on recent days have shown cold northerlies.
  9. Yes spot on post, today has been the first proper spring day here and people want it gone already, they must be mad a few more weeks of 17C and light winds please not the easterlies of early next week bringing a chilly wind.
  10. The faux warmth looks like being over by sunday on GFS 12Z as we pull in cooler continental air from the continent, nights look cold all the way with widespread ground frost with fog patches in rural areas until the wind picks up from sunday/monday. Tuesday looks a very raw and dull drizzly day. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1201.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1262.png Runs definately pushing towards a northeasterly on todays runs.
  11. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1217.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn8417.png lol well we were meant too reach around 15C today and back to just under that on sunday, so a two day warm snap then as the only potential real warm days are tomorrow and saturday.
  12. Sorry not much chance of that now actually most runs are going for northerlies/northeasterlies though not that cold initially for next week this is quite a shocker and with support too. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm2401.gif
  13. So whose looking forward to the hottest weather of the year this weekend?
  14. lol anybody find it funny that people claiming to be weather enthusiasts actually don't mind the prevailing UK pattern for the UK ie mild cloudy southwesterlies you would thing the true enthusiast would want something rarer, anyway this thread is redundant now as it doesnt look like an easterly giving widespread overcast conditions to the midlands anymore.
  15. Rather strange UKMO update here saying a good deal of dry and settled weather but then saying turning more unsettled towards mid week so not much settled weather then and if its going to be cloudy with a cool easterly to begin with not actually that good either. Not that great of an update with slightly below in the east and southeast with a strong easterly wind then turning below normal generally, looks like a brief settled warm ish by day(cold at night) snap end of this week unfortunately nothing more.
  16. So glad i had a coat on yesterday when going for a walk, once in openness of the countryside it felt very chilly indeed in that very strong and gusty wind.
  17. Was out walking yesterday in the lovely warwickshire countryside and the furthest thing from my mind was thinking of applying sunscream, the gusty wind and very wet fields were my main concern. No sunburn to report, not that i ever do in early April
  18. I see many pessimistic posts going around on here and TWO, well for end of the week things have improved with warmer 850`s and a better alignment of the high, temps at the weekend were forecast to be around 12C for end of this week now they are around 15C/16C. Some impressive diurnal temperature ranges possible end of the week with night mins around 0C to just below in some rural spots. Alot of NIMBY posts going around with a guy in the far northeast of scotland moaning its not going to be that warm, abit like moaning in winter in the southwest tip of england i mean what do you expect
  19. Please move this to a different thread if possible but ive just been on wikipedia and it says the effects of a Sirocco are i quote. No thanks to Sirocco then as it causes cold wet weather for us, arctic northerlies deliver much better weather than that.
  20. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn2881.png As far away from a sirrocco as possible , i wish i had a fancy name for this arctic northerly
  21. lol whats scirocco easterlies got to do with model discussion and the UK for that matter, thought i entered the wrong thread here, anyways some model discussion from me, HP is forecasted to move more over us than previous days runs hence temps will rise higher by day, still lovely and cold by night though with local air frosts possible in the countryside with fog patches , could be picking up a cool easterly by the beginning of next week though and further down the line retrogresson to greenland is possible, looks like previous winters patterns in April setting up
  22. It was hilarious on good friday on QVC The Shopping Channel they were doing three gardening shows at the beginning they were wearing coats and saying its not too bad evne though it was freezing with overcast skies then it started to pour down and they had to spend the rest of the 3 shows during the day indoors looking embarassed
  23. Not sure where you are getting 18C from with a cool light easterly drift, 850`s look cool end of the week and nights will be cold, yes temps can get into the teens but 18C is overdoing it, you need a southerly component for temps that high in early to mid April, seems alot of runs are going for a brisk easterly by sunday so hardly feeling warm and then the possibility of the high retrogressing to greenland letting in a cold northerly so hardly a warm pattern setting up, you need it centred over france for that no sign of that.
  24. Yes i agree with the above two posters, hardly looking an improvement at all only tuesday looks reasonably mild for April(average max for April is 12C), nice and mild for later this week if it was winter Cool and miserable for this time of year though. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn11417.png http://www.wetterzen.../Rtavn13817.png
  25. Leads to something more interesting down the line though, might be more snowfall if it comes off, no proper warmth on this run at all, dont forget early to mid 20's C can easily be reached in April.
