  1. http://www.wetterzen...s/Rtavn1681.png shocking run so far, this is nust one of the coldest looks charts for May you'll see with cold northeasterlies and LP centred over the nearby continent, with cloud cover/rain and cold 850's some miserable May weather is likely, what a big difference sunday will be compared to this week, the scarfs, coats and even gloves will be back out for spectators at the Manchester United game at sunderland on sunday thats for sure.
  2. Winds turning more northeasterly later next week but still only maxs of 10C if that isn't disastrous for mushy i dont know what is oh and night frost too, hes right about the lack of rain though we do need some, well the farmers do. I dont buy it being completely dry anyway, with northerlies and northeasterlies it can still be showery or overcast with lots of cloud coming down from the north if slightly milder air gets into the mix.
  3. A very cool and very wet sunday now on GFS 12Z then drying up but very cool with northerly winds prevailing and night frost.
  4. http://www2.dmu.dk/a.../dreameu_72.gif - Looks like a hot plume of air coming down to us from the northwest from iceland for this weekend onwards :o Sorry no it's more volcanic ash
  5. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20100427/tuk-hottest-day-of-the-year-predicted-dba1618.html Talk about OTT, temps around 20C arent unsual for late April at all and i would hardly call it hot either, everytime the temps hit 20C/21C in almost late Spring they call it hot, europe must be lauhging at us as that would be just a warm pleasant day for them.
  6. Looks like a wet start to May, the first half of this week i think will give the public false hope that summer is here for good unfortunately not in the UK. http://www.wetterzen...ics/brack2a.gif Could be the first of three poor bank holiday weekends this May to September, never understand why they dont have them in the most reliable period for nice weather in the UK that being mid July to mid August, the Scots have more sense to arrange theirs for early August not at the end when the atlantic can pick up after a nice August.
  7. Disagree with first sentence but agree with first part of second even though it did come down pretty heavy sunday morning but not for long here, i guess you missed it in northants which is a dry county. 19C on my car thermometer yesterday afternoon/early evening and it felt very warm outside, good job i have air conditioning in my car and can have it nice and cold inside May be lots of sunshine next week with a cold northerly(potential for wintry showers too) but a completely different feel to the weather than yesterday and today with much colder dewpoints and a cold wind, i wont be seeing too many pasty legs next week good job lol putting a very brave face on it arent you, GFS 00Z is a terrible run for you i agree Looking forward to the cold nights with temps around 0C all next week?,,, i doubt it Warming up easterlies isn't towards the end of FI, yes bizarre looking that far ahead and even then easterlies don't always deliver great sunny weather in May anyway, very poor run synoptically for the warm fans, the last few days must of got them in the mood but next week is a big shock to them and all the short wearers
  8. lol, Pointless thread IMO, it's obvious why there is a lack of April showers this April due to HP dominance, strange to base one or two Aprils on how common they are in April, not EVERY April is going to produce them but alot do. Very common before 2009 here.
  9. Not so sure about that GP May looks like starting on a very cool and rather wet note but probably drying up after the first few days and as you say a solid mean ridge to our west keeping it rather cool but mainly dry. Looks like we could be in for a cool first half to May, as you think i think the second half or last week will fare better but an unsettled June is on the cards, i'm personally going for a cool and wet June, warmer first half to July but still unsettled and improving mid to late July onwards.
  10. Cold northerly at the weekend then HP sitting just to our west(a cool high) but drying up, great if you ask me lovely cold mornings and pleasant days, perfect for walking, bring it on
  11. LOL, arguments over frost in April i see, ummm well i've recorded air frosts and temps just above 0C this past week the countryside i'm sure even colder, i recorded 0C on my car thermometer early yesterday morning before parking and going for a long distance walk and once the sun comes up there are LOADS of insects flying around so the myth frosts kills insects is nonsense and frosts in April nature has got used to them, it seems like it's only a certain one poster who hasn't Cool to cold mornings warming up quickly when the sun gets to work are one of the best things about spring, much worse is mild nights turning to very mild cloudy days with hardly any temperature difference abit like early the coming week.
  12. Well i'm in two minds to be honest it's not tedious for ramblers as we need a dry countryside but as a weather fan i would like some convective possibilities, but the main reason i now want rain is the condition of the countryside its looking very dusty indeed now and rock hard so uncomfortable for walking, the pattern looks like turning cooler and wetter not dry as you say but hopefully a mixture of rain and dry periods which i think we will get as polar airstreams are nothing like horrid TM airmasses which bring the wettest patterns.
  13. Well this past week has been wonderful, cold starts to the morning and then warming up quickly, i am am actually very happy with the runs as we desperately need the rain, the ground is really uncomfortable to walk on ask any rambler and no good for your ankles, it will still feel warm by mid morning onwards when the sun gets to work anyway so why you moaning, i dont hope it changes unless you dont care about the countryside, its as dry as a bone out there and rock hard.
  14. Very cold morning, -2C here, -7C in a nearby valley
  15. UKMO 00Z not looking so promising though with HP never really moving over the UK with LP moving in from the west, you cant complain though we've had lots of dry weather lately and the farmers do need some rain as the ground is rock hard with cracks showing, nothing like September 2008 when one member said the farmers were happy after those unseasonal floods in early September 2008. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1441.gif
  16. Have to say i agree with you and lets not forget even though there has been a cool breeze this week and temps only 11C/12C yesterday it felt much much warmer in the blazing afternoon sun, was out walking about 15 miles in the lovely east warwickshire countryside yesterday and it was a magnifcent day with some amazing views, would recommend anybody to get out and about and visit ancient woodlands in their area or near me in the princethorpe/wappenbury area. So if it felt really warm yesterday 18C is easily warm enough with sun.
  17. Ominous signs for the summer to be honest, good dry Aprils rarely give good summers, remember the last three good aprils and what followed, the weather has a habit of balancing itself out so the rain will come at some point as we all know which will most likely be June onwards.
  18. I still am amazed when charts like next week are shown in winter everyone is doom and gloom even though it would give some nice cold dry weather but when it is shown in spring its great, am i the only one kinda bored with the lack of active weather in the next week, its all getting very boring good job i have other hobbies as the weather is so tedious atm apart from some frost at night which we'll lose next week so it'll be uncomfortable to sleep, just great
  19. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack4.gif - Wintry showers moving southwards. Strange comments on TWO saying the cold plunge has gone to our east, looks dead set for the UK to me with the 528 dam line moving southwards dwon the spine of the mainland and will probably sit through the midlands giving some very cold nights with light winds.
  20. The good news is colder air delayed until monday bad news is a prolonged arctic northerly spell with a greenland high southerly tracking jet setup on GFS 18Z, at least the weekend looks warm by day anyway but next week has the potential for air frost almost anywhere every night esp northern UK which for late April is very unusual indeed, could record more air frosts next week than the last month.
  21. Yep the latest UKMO and GME indicate this with winter looking synoptics.
  22. http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/run/UN144-21.GIF?15-18 Corking looking UKMO 12Z if it was winter of course
  23. Looks like some notable air frosts likely on friday, sunday and monday night, down to -5C in parts.
  24. Horrid overcast chilly day, only 8C, widespread too. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgiaktgraph?ART=karte&LANG=en&JJ=2010&MM=04&TT=15&TIME=1500&TYP=temperatursyn&KEY=MID&TIME=1271342359
  25. Dont agree at all there are big differences between ECM 00Z and GFS 00Z/06Z looks the same pattern to me that of a HP block to northwest, only differences is ecm has a break away ridge which settles over us while GFS keeps us it to our west, GFS 06Z is very poor for warm weather fans. -5C likely next sunday/monday night, very cold for parts of cornwall and dorset. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn16817.png
