Model discussion - hunt for cold Christmas period 2021
Osbourne One-Nil replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
To paraphrase you..."can you please explain why or show any evidence of why" you think this because "posting statements like this is really not helpful and just guess work". Be nice, play fair and be consistent. -

Model discussion - hunt for cold - Christmas countdown
Osbourne One-Nil replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Ok, has everyone who feels the need to say “I told you so” got it out of their system yet? Good. Equally, can a few not overreact? It’s only the weather. Welcome back to the MODEL DISCUSSION THREAD. -

First Ground and Air Frost Watch Season 2021-22
Osbourne One-Nil replied to damianslaw's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Dropped to -0.6º on Friday night, so not as cold as Shap, which is only 7 miles away (in a straight line. In every other sense, it's light year's off). -

3.1 last night here. It's coming! -
Every year, around this time, I look at the snow coverage charts here, and dream of a cold snowy winter to come, with angel-dust in the air, Ipswich challenging at the top end of the table and wondering whether it will be Barbara Dickson or Elaine Paige on the Two Ronnies' Christmas Special. Today I spotted some snow in Russia, Alaska and Canada....here we go!

The changing daylight hours thread
Osbourne One-Nil replied to Boydie's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
It means I can astro-image again; I love summer but the evenings are awful for anything astronomy-wise. Now at least the light evenings aren't the limiting factor....it's the cloud. -

Hi - Morning - I'd ask in your regional thread for the best answers. It's just a bunch of weirdos in this section! -
Model output discussion - is the beast awakening?
Osbourne One-Nil replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
I think this thread would be much more use to everyone if people made considered posts based on the output and not knee jerk reactions to individual bits of a chart projecting what could happen 5 days off or what they think is going to happen. -

Erm....model discussion thread! -
The Eden went over in Appleby las night. I'm not sure any properties would have been flooded at that level of water but today doesn't bode well. Hopefully we'll get nowhere near the ridiculous levels of Storm Desmond (black line at the top)

If it wasn't for lockdown I'd venture over to the Honister Pass - it's phenomenal the amount of rain it receives

North West Regional Discussion 30 December 2020 onwards
Osbourne One-Nil replied to cheshire snow's topic in Regional
I can almost guarantee the Eden will go over in Appleby, there's just a delay but when it rises it rises quickly. It drops quickly too of course.
