There seems to be a sequence of warm summers every 24 years! 1887 16.1; 1911 17.0; 1935 16.3; 1959 16.6; 1983 17.1; 2007 ? (Source; Climate of the British Isles, Hulme and Barrow, Routledge 1997, using date constructed by Gordon Manley and the Hadley Centre) If that is the case, there should be one this year! Can't think of any other reason! Of course there have been other warm summers!
