  1. Best storm of the year tonight in Reading. Lots of high sheet lightning going off in all directions and a few cracking cg and crawlers to boot. Hoping we may get a second round later tonight, currently hammering it down again now.
  2. Scorcher of a day here in Reading with a max of 32.3c beating the high of 31.5c we had in July . Impressive for just one day of heat and also I think this may be the first occasion on where I've experienced the magic 90F in the UK, some nice alto-cumulus to boot too. Still 30.5c now think its going to be an uncomfortable night in the attic
  3. Reached 24.8c in Reading today after another 5 consecutive days of it being 25c+. Must say this has been a glorious July, last time I experienced this kind of persistent heat has to be 2003 as i was not in the UK during the famous July 2006 spell. Had 18 days of temperatures of 25c or above, including 7 consecutive days of temperatures between 28c - 30c and 2 days of temperatures above 30c First proper rainfall this morning in three weeks accumulating to just 4mm bringing the total for this month at and grand total of 6.2mm. This could all change by the end of the month though especially if we are lucky to catch any storms this weekend, just missed being hit head on the other day.
  4. Currently 27.0c with a dew point of 15.8c feeling slightly muggy still, had a max of 27.6c earlier. Hopefully this is enough to provide enough energy for later on didn't think it would be getting this warm today.
  5. Well the storm that popped up to our SSE moved NE'wards so still no proper direct storm here in Reading although did catch a couple of CG strikes in the distance. Already 23.7c and the sun is out so hoping we may get some heat to fuel some storms later on
  6. Storm popped up to the SSE of Reading had a few deep rumbles and one flash of lightning. Hopefully may just get clipped by it and get our first storm from this spell
  7. I can't hear anything other than planes lol underneath Heathrow's flight path. That Cell to the west of Reading looks luverly
  8. Can see the cells firing up over Newbury some stunning cloud formations can't remember the last time i saw so much altocumulus castellanus. Going to be a loud night for many i think
  9. Got some lovely towers and castles going up here in Reading hoping we will get something electrical tonight
  10. Currently 27.6c here in Reading with sunny spells and milky skies with a high so far of 27.9c.
  11. Had a high of 24.3c today in Reading breaking the run of temperatures reaching the high 20's which even though i've loved this hot spell it has been nice to be cooler for a day, in fact we've managed 29c every day since last Saturday making this the most persistent hot spell i've witnessed since 2003 in the UK although we haven't officially reached 30c as far as i'm aware. Met Office showing us back up to 28c tomorrow with 31c on Monday before temps dropping back into the mid 20's with showers and storms. Perfect end to such a glorious spell of weather, hoping we get some storms.

  13. Reached 29.9c today currently 26.8c and can see the storms firing up to the south quite nicely although haven't heard any thunder yet.
  14. Up to 28.2c here now and have some cumulus clouds starting to bubble up. Up by almost a degree on yesterday
  15. 26.8c Currently in Reading, Just had max of 27.1c. Think the magic 30c is likely here today came so close yesterday with a high of 29.8c if it hadn't been for the high cloud we would have certainly smashed it. August 2003 was the last time i experianced a hot spell like this in the UK as i was out of the country for July 2006.
  16. I can't believe this! tragic news. RIP Tim, Carl and his son
  17. Blimey so they have rated it an EF5, i think that makes this the 7th F5/EF5 to strike the state since 1950 if i'm not mistaken. Ties with Alabama i believe now for the most for a state as well now.
  18. Slightly out of their way but there is a cell eyeing up Forth Worth that may need watching. Don't have any decent radar imagery but it looks potent enough
  19. Jeez! they were incredibly lucky! How could a school in Oklahoma not have a storm shelter that's terrible
  20. Have I heard this right? the school didn't have a storm shelter?
  21. Just watched an interview with a woman with her kids her whole house is gone everything they own heartbreaking stuff.
  22. The damage in Moore is just horrific really feel for those parents with their kids in the school. Looks like an EF5 to me
  23. Great photos there guys and well done, what a lovely cone shape nado that one was! Really sad to hear about the loss of life though, shows it only takes one tornado to go on a rampage in an outbreak and cause destruction to people's lives When was the last time a slight risk produced an EF4?
  24. Good Luck today guys!! Its looking good, the slight risk days are always the best
