  1. North York Moors. I did mean over the tops it was that much - but here was 10-12" lying, it never stopped all day Saturday and Sunday looked like this.
  2. It has snowed pretty much none stop here for over 20 hours the back edge is not far away but still coming down. About 10" lying even lower down.
  3. It has been snowing at an insane rate for many hours here, I have no idea how much is lying higher up. Hovering at about 0.2C lower down so very wet and sticking to everything, but we still have at least 6" that's after 7.8mm melted through gauge before it got light.
  4. We had quite a heavy snow shower about 8pm but there was already quite a bit higher up. Then it went down below -3 so the wet snow is like a skating rink on all the minor roads.
  5. White and crunchy over the North York Moors, I assume some flakes fell after midnight in any case it snowed on and off most of yesterday and is about -1 this morning.
  6. Earliest Sunset is on the early side this year 15:38 on the 11th here, so less than two weeks away. It stays the same for six days after that mind and barely noticeable subtle change until about Christmas. It is rather bizarre the mornings continue to get darker until New Year though. By 12th night things start to slowly accelerate towards spring and through February things really motor away.
  7. Make sure the time on console and PC match up. When I first connected mine it was a bit of a faff about getting updated or correct drivers. Otherwise complete restart of everything might be your next option. The console does store some data in the logger but I think you only get one shot to download. Make sure that silly clip thing is fully engaged.
  8. Was it actually dry and more sunny than usual through September, it certainly didn't seem like it here. August was well above average rain and September only down about 25%. A more significant factor seems to be chilly nights and not too windy through October which lets them build up rather than being blown away every few days.
  9. Being further west than most of the UK and Europe your mornings are going to be hideously dark for weeks though. UK did a trial staying on BST in the late 60s and most people hated it, you still don't have much daylight in the evening like even now it's nearly dark by 6pm What I would prefer is an earlier start to BST like first weekend in March rather than the last. It makes no sense waiting so long even from a mathematical standpoint - we go to GMTabout a month after equinox so why not change back a month before at Spring.
  10. Have a check for any corrosion or dirt or insect parts on the battery terminals, brighten them up a bit with wire wool or sandpaper. A wire might have come off where they attach and though that would be an easy fix getting access won't be.
  11. I shall have to hunt out some October snow scenes here from as early as the 5th if I remember right. There is a tendency for repeat events through October i.e. if we have one spell cold enough for snow at least a couple more are likely. But equally many years have generally mild to warm condition even into November. 26th October 2012
  12. In 78-79 the North Pennines had two metres and more of lying snow and it barely thawed at all between Christmas and late March. It was striking looking across from the NYMoors how white the distant fells around Tow Law were, when it had started to go quickly here through April.
  13. Technically sun sets here about 7:24pm but in realty it goes behind the hill by 6pm so day feels done by 7pm Despite strong wind and sunny afternoon dew barely dried off in the shade.
  14. It was crazily wet here late October 2000 too but no measuring in those days here. 2009 much less so nothing particularly unusual. Several bridges were overtopped which has not been seen since or recalled before, however a spell in July early 30s was definitely worse with many bridges washed away - some still replaced by 'temporary' structures. The final morning it became much colder before clearing - with wet snow settling higher up and river levels rapidly fell.
  15. Blakey ridge stayed below 10C all day it is about 1200ft though https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/IFARNDAL3
  16. Highest through the day was 10.6C here at 11am. It frequently dipped below 10C during showers. Add in gusty northerly touching 40mph - not a good day for anyone camping
  17. I think a comparable noteworthy figure near the east cost would be single figure max, below 15C is a frequent occurrence in any month here. (including today 12C)
  18. It is nice to feel cool dampness the odd day but when it goes on day after day you soon get fed up and long grass etc is wringing wet. Yesterday was quite windy and the cut off line was around Rosedale again It's not that unusual in August i recall several times heading down to Whitby regatta and it was like this - sometimes the firework finale was cancelled due to thick fog
  19. I would have spelled it Roak but not sure if any way is *correct* with a dialect term? Here we often say oh no it's turning roaky again (or is it roakey ) (edit - spell check having a fit)
  20. It barely got above 15C here yesterday with thick fog and drizzle amounting to 0.4mm, and a further 0.4mm this morning too. 14.9C currently. You only need to go south of the moors and even before the A170 it's a different world but not as hot as it has been. Over the tops this side it could be mid winter with drenching fog scudding over the heather.
  21. It was foggy here and 14C until about 10am then sun broke through and it soared to 28C. Wind has gone more to SE than NE, the last few days have been rather grim at times for August but cool if humid, rather than chilly.
