  1. Actually falling quite steadily here now with the roads gaining coverage. Perhaps a net cm or so addition if it continues for another 20 minutes like this, but hard to tell with the wind blowing everything around.
  2. Has to be said I'm not sure we'll see a warning map like this again for an awfully long time. Let's hope those in the affected areas stay safe.
  3. A little flurry here nothing to trouble the rush hour though. Radar looks like it could pep up slightly soon. MetO going for cold and mainly dry through to the weekend so possibly the end of the real fun. Although we've seen the weather having other plans all week!
  4. Blimey thought that was it for the day then looked at the radar - sharp little shower passing through.
  5. Icicles forming here too now - honestly can't remember the last time I saw one!
  6. Meh I'm not too bothered about the end of the cold spell if it comes over the weekend. Here we had a decent fall which was fun to see, but just wish it'd arrived just a couple of weeks earlier and been a bit more prolonged in terms of the decent snowfall. As we all know, we can't get anything better than this week now - if it holds on it'll just be nuisance value IMO. The sun's getting way too strong even for the conditions we have today - it's already making short work of the 8-10 cm I awoke to. Personally, I'll be on the lookout for mild after the weekend. Bring on the warmer evenings and cold beers - the perk of being a closeted weather nerd is all the seasons have something to offer. Also I'd say to any who regularly make decent contributions to the MOD thread, thanks. It was a fascinating process to follow and learned a bit along the way. Some pretty barbed comments were made toward some posters in the various threads, which I thought was a bit unnecessary given the potential cold spell was being discussed on this site before it even showed up on the models! Anyway, cheers. Was frustrating and fun in equal measures.
  7. Impressed with how far inland those showers from earlier have got nearly at Oxford!
  8. Showers in the North Sea look to be tracking just to my North - Colchester/Braintree along the A120 maybe?
  9. For the Essex contingent looks like my hometown of Brentwood's a good place to be today!
  10. Interesting running the radar back you can see the direction of travel changing slightly. Only shame is it's a work day, would've been great to get the Fuji out and take some photos!
  11. Yeah shower has pushed through here now as well looks like that could be our lot for today in our area. Was nice to see a bit falling this morning - need a bit of cloud cover now!
  12. Well the sun had been threatening but the skies now completely grey again and a few gusts of wind. Potential to cop another shower looking at the radar.
  13. I have to say it's strange reading the word 'Thames' and 'firing line' without the word 'Kent' somewhere in the middle!
  14. I'd say we topped out at about 3, maybe 4 inches of ultra powdery snow which is much easier to clear off the car - bonus. The cloud starting to thin so expecting a bit of thawing as the sun peeks through. A few stray flakes still looking for a home. I'd say we're about on par with December's fall here now, perhaps a touch more, which was more than I anticipated when I went to sleep last night and a nice surprise. Today is the first day it feels extremely cold on the skin - it is bloody 'taters out. Only a few brave souls in the gym this morning. Good luck to any who haven't got a covering yet. Hope those to the North enjoy the next few hours!
  15. I'd say maybe a couple of inches here, looks very pretty and a bit more than I thought we might squeeze overnight. Nice to see others been getting a bit as well and hope most get at least a covering before it runs out of beans.
  16. Bloody cold under the clear skies now. Can really feel it now the sun is down because to be fair it didn't feel *all* that cold today due to the lack of wind. Looks like the action for our region will be mainly to my North tonight for a change. Hope you get something!
  17. Yeah would be better for whoever gets anything as they will hold any accumulation overnight. Looks like midnight onwards could see a fair bit somewhere if that's to be believed.
  18. Certainly more stirring out in the North Sea at the moment by the looks of it some oranges and yellows reappearing. Hard to tell but seem destined for Kent at the moment?
  19. Hopefully we'll see a bit more movement our way but I'm not holding my breath. The convective stuff has mainly missed us so hopefully it'll go out with a big bang and a quick thaw over the weekend to avoid too many travel complications.
