Happy new year everyone! I’ll have been here 20 years this year!

We had a snizzle shower here in Reigate about 30 mins ago

There was probably 2-3 inches of snow here in Reigate last night. When I set off to Redhill at about 6 last night, the roads were treacherous. But by 7.30, all major roads had been gritted and it was ok to drive. Main roads are clear this morning but busy - pavements are an ice rink…

Snow has arrived in Reigate light currently but settling easily as temperature is still -1.3c
I was about to say the same thing - I’m close to Earlswood lakes and there’s gentle snow here!

Morning everyone, have driven up to my parents’ house in Suffolk yesterday and we had a very heavy shower (about 20 minutes) at The dartford crossing - the storms then went around my parents’ village but they’ve barely had a drop of rain!

Yes, i was in Twickenham yesterday and conditions were even worse than in herts...the grass was not only brown but had withered away to nothing in places. Signs of lack of water stress in much of the shrubery and scorched leaves from the extreme heat of last week. 5 to 10 mm...well at least it might help fill the water butts and settle some of the dust but on a larger scale wont do much at all....
I’ve noticed a lot of trees - silver birch and beech seem to have been stressed by the heat last week and their leaves look burnt.
5-10mm of rain here in the south east would be useful even if it greened things up a bit!

Looking forward to some "out of nowhere" rain here too the garden looks like the Serengeti right now
Mine did look like the Serengeti but after a week of water fight / paddling pool etc had started to green up again!
had to use an umbrella just now to go into town - some “proper” rain!

That settles it, gonna be hotter than even 41 it looks like. Thank goodness I'm in Dover, reached 31 at eleven. Hope it doesn't speed up now with accumulating temperature.
I suspect it will almost certainly break 40c
