  1. Love the fact that 2010 is referenced so much in forum posts these days. 6 years ago, who would have thought that we'd have a new reference to add onto the likes of 1987 and 1991.

      Precisely. Without delving into the statistics of snow, ice days, no: of frosts etc and analysing them then these comparisons of standout months are pretty meaningless in isolation. With the global situation of extremes from all ends of the climate spectrum, I for one aren't counting my chickens as to possibility of yet another extreme month NOT turning up some time soon once again. In fact I feel its more likely than not, as the short-term weather records currently suggest.

      Never say never, we can't rule anything out.

      Maybe we won't experience a December that cold, but we can certainly experience another winter month that cold or colder - subzero months are rare but they have happened in our lifetimes more than once so it certainly isn't a once-in-a-lifetime thing - many of the older folk will have experienced several CET subzero months.
