  1. Is it just me loving the calm weather this Autumn? Although a frosty night or two would be good.

St. Jude's day tomorrow too! I fondly remember that day in 2013!

  2. So we've been getting the perfect Autumn set up during winter, now we're getting the perfect winter set up in Autumn. Any way we could just tilt the Earth a little bit in our favour so we can get things the right way around?!

    1. I remember Atlantic 252

      I remember Atlantic 252

we all know it will be wild 'n' wet as we enter winter, wouldn't say perfect winter setup either no real beast

  3. Now it's early Autumn I hope we can hang onto some warmth for as long as we can. Got to squeeze every last bit out of summer 2016 in case we get a 4th horrid winter in a row!

Agree Gord, keep the warmth coming! Far too many days already in this country where you have to wear a jacket or coat. Plenty of time for cool miserable muck!

Move to london then you would have had enough of the heat by now scorch

      Summers dead for another year

  4. If it wasn't for the changes in the landscape at this time of year, today could be any day for weather in 2015.

  5. A few days that have stopped this summer being a complete disaster, but overall it's not been that great. 2015 overall is becoming a pretty benign year. 4 months left to reverse that trend.

    1. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

Well not benign in terms of breezy days...August has been somewhat quieter but before that a very consistently breezy/windy 4 months or so!

  6. Phew! First day of a new job. So much to take in. And only 1 day in of a 12 week training course!

  7. So the seasons this year have gone Autumn, Autumn, bit of Spring, Autumn, bit of summer, back to Autumn again. Looking forward to the next season of Autumn. Of course, Christmas will be exciting because it will be Autumn. Can't wait for Easter next year too which will also be in Autumn. Anyone going on an Autumn holiday this August?

  8. Had an interview to drive trams for Midland Metro this week. Voicemail on my phone today asking me to call them back. Got message too late today but they said in message can call tomorrow. Having kittens here! Have I got the job or not!

Can't wait for this, first got interested in astronomy after the Neptune flyby in 1989. Always wondered what Pluto was like.

      Bottesford

Yes really looking forward to this too. Been following it since launch!

  10. Got a good feeling about storm potential here tonight in Dudley. It doesn't feel like there's going to be a storm but so many models and forecasts have us in the right place. Fingers crossed!

  11. How sad, we've lost Ron Moody as well. Mesmerising as Fagin.

  12. Can't believe there is a fly in my house already! Surely we've had enough frosts and cold weather to give at least a couple of warm weeks without having to suffer them?

LOL, they come out as soon as the weather warms up, the previous cold has nothing to do with it, this winter was excellent for lack of insects

    3. chubbyfan

      chubbyfan

that fly has been walking around on a fresh dog turd before visiting your home.

    4. Summer of 95

      Summer of 95

Had one last night, and a moth the other day... Will be Wasp Apocalypse in summer unless spring brings some frost.

  13. ...and so, my winter ends with me falling on black ice this morning leaving me with a nice lump on my head and a painful back and sore ribs. Mother Nature's last joke this winter...

I don't need winter to fall over, recently tripped on a paving stone in the dark, landed on left hand, bounced off left shoulder into flowerbed, car keys went over into next doors garden, ooh f*~k didn't half hurt and the embarrassment lol

Amate of mine fell over a few years ago and never got back up ,God rest his soul .

  14. We're getting all the right weather, just not necessarily in the right order.

      Story of the UK unfortunately.

  15. Wouldn't call today Springlike. Looks it but doesn't feel like it! Really notice the cold once the sun starts setting. Still makes for pleasant weather though!

    1. Eugene

      Eugene

Sun was warm today, even i admit it was springlike, evenings/mornings still feel like winter though, nice mix of seasons possible from now until May

    2. I remember Atlantic 252

      I remember Atlantic 252

certainly wasnt, 3.3C icy wind and no sun whatsoever

  16. After this high pressure clears. I think the weather should just go for it. Early Spring warmth followed quickly but quick intense shots of cold. Thundery showers, hail, sleet, fat snow...that kind of thing. Little intense squalls making everything sideways for a minute followed by strong sunshine, Never mid deep cold and long lasting snow, lets have some fun! Would like a crazy couple of weeks where we can't keep up! I think I just described my perfect Spring!

    1. Eugene

      Eugene

Looking forward to the Spring gloom next week, no doubt with limited sunshine and feeling chilly with average temps of 7C it will hyped up, then in April with warm sunny blue skies and pleasant temps of 12C people will moan it too cold like in April 2012<lol

  17. Time for the weather to become background noise in my life again. Not a lot happening...

  18. Looking at the radar, Scarborough must be the most gut wrenching place to be right now. Looks like they can almost touch the snow!

  19. So for wintry weather this decade, this winter is close to edging out 2012 for 3rd place. Still way behind 2010 and 2013 though.

    1. Lettucing Gutted

      Lettucing Gutted

For the 2010s the best winters are:-

      1) 2009-2010

      2) 2010-2011

      3) 2012-2013

      Now the worst...

      4) 2014-2015

      5) 2011-2012

      6) 2013-2014!

  20. Reports of thunder, snow, hail, rain etc. You northwesterners using up your yearly quota of weather nice and early this year? You'll be having a heatwave tomorrow at this rate!

  21. We should invite our friends on US weather forums to pay us a visit so they can read what a real bust looks like. It will make them feel a lot better!

      Sounds like a plan!

  22. All of those people who have said 'Game Over' or 'I'm done' or 'I'm calling this, it's a bust' or something similar. You may be right, but I bet you're still lurking here looking in just in case aren't you? Come on...I know you're there!

  23. The conversations in here regarding the upcoming cold spell really remnd me of January 2013. The models kept mucking around with the details of that one until the last minute.

    1. lassie23

      lassie23

models change as often as pants, until they get to grips with the pattern change.
