I hope @nick sussex can master this, no winter in this thread is complete without Sir Nicks crayons coming out and some 80’s movie references.

As much as I love all the pretty charts being posted, I do wish there was more explanation with them... being a novice of just 14 years on here, I do appreciate the help!
Yup, the forums gone downhill a bit with that. It used to be very informative

Many a time we had an old member on here, showing how, run by run the lows incrementally were shifting south.
most of the excitement is on the day and dashing to lamppost watch.
get the cold in first…..

Some info on the met office web site in respect to there icons. If the correct conditions to snow and it’s 80% or more chance of precipitation you get two snow flakes if 70% or less it’s one snow flake. So the way the site/app is set up you can’t have heavy snow if there is only 70% chance of precipitation. So very very poor guide on intensity of snow fall.
That’s really reassuring, in an odd way.
always depressing to go from 2 flakes to 1, yet it may mean very little in the broad scheme of things .
thankyou

Monday to Wednesday god only knows all down to luck of the streamers after that
And then the breakdown whenever that might be
Exciting times
What’s your opinion for Maldon/ Danbury ? We’re in the amber but kind of tucked in along the coast.

I was in Braintree at the time, I remember my friend from Maldon said it was at least 15 inches deep there.
It was a lot, the fact I thought I could was purely lack of experience in bad conditions , and of bad conditions, would guess many youngsters will try themselves this weekend.
‘tis spooky it’s 30 years and we will likely get another blast.
Sunday is my sons 25 th birthday, so a memorable one for him.

The greatest forecast I’ve ever seen.....As a teenager living in Essex I was going bezerk. The nonchalant manner he describes temps rising from minus 11 to minus 5
I was living in Heybridge , and had just passed my driving test the Oct before.
I was seeing a fella in bradwell on sea, and told my dad I was going to drive down there.... in all that snow.
needless to say I wasn’t allowed, for a huge b****cking for even suggesting it.
the road from maldon to bradwell on sea, once past latchingdon, is a bit remote and bleak...and flat! The drifts would have been ridiculous.
Live up near a Danbury now, rural and high up , so I’m hoping for some decent snow this weekend.

I recall during 2009 or
maybe 2010 a plea
going out for anyone with 4x4 vehicles to help support various services ( district nurses and ambulance crews being etc) if and I appreciate it’s an if, the hoped for cold
spell does turn out to be a beastie then surely under the present situation they couldn’t request such support from the general population?
all academic at this range,
no hopes being raised in the house to T-72!

Even if tomorrow is a damp squib, it’s still mid January.
do you reckon this reverse psychology stuff works?

You’ll have to be quick, posts are only lasting a few seconds , which is winding the poster up.

The mods in Mad Thread are having fun tonight . Someone’s being a complete ****** in there.
not being allowed to have a personal chat room perhaps?
edit to add which thread, not here , it’s nice in here .

He was poked to be completely fair but it was nothing major and certainly nothing to warrant the reaction. That said I think best to leave there as it’s a difficult time for all of us at the moment with everything going on and who knows what stresses and strains people are under. As I said though, the mods could literally not have done anything else.
Quite, we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors and he had already said some time before he was spending time with family.
if anyone is in direct contact, please pass on he’s missed already.
he was always accurate and honest regarding weather chances.
if he’s gone elsewhere it would be worthwhile knowing where.

Well if he’s gone, that’s a tremendous shame, so we need Sir Nick of Sussex and Mr Murr to team up, and we can leave the Mod thread to. the Scott and Kasim show.

Well, even though Twitter is imploding , I’ll still find out if Mr Murr is confident of snow or no!
cheers @yamkin

@TEITShas been on my mind as well.
I hope he’s still with us, and not anything else .
apologies Mods but, it’s the season for thinking of others.
The old names who’ve been around for so long, are noticed when they go quiet.

Just peeked in the MAD thread to catch up.....
lots of "things we cannot name ", I think I've figured out that one interpretation is BBC forecasts , and I think? The other is back ground signals ? Can anyone confim?

Regarding the threads - I understand why the mods did what they did - however for me the balance has tipped too much the other way in that there is just too much chaff in here.
I personally don't like all the one liners, and a lot of the chit-chat is just inane. The other "focused" thread is just too quiet, although appreciate this may be due to the failed easterly.
In summary, the balance is not quote right and I feel something has been lost with the new threads. Hope this is seen as constructive.
Absolutely agree, particularly with the last point.

I for one don't really mind a less than perfect Christmas ,because the real prize looks like it's on the horizon.
if ,as anticipated,we have a stonking January ,I would like to thank all contributors to the forum, and the mods as it may not be a peaceful new year for them.
