  1. Yes, there was a small thunderstorm in Stourbridge and Dudley in the West Midlands yesterday evening. I would say this was classed as under the plume event as it was still in the warm, humid airmass. Other than that NO where else had a storm. Quite ironic really when the SE and EA was forecast them all week!
  2. Haha so after all that this week, it was Stourbridge and Dudley which were the places to be for the small storm here this evening. So we outdid the SE and East Anglia. LOL But I was right all week saying no French storms would reach the UK but the greatest chance was today for the West Midlands and this rung true albeit slightly. I'm pleased! Until imported storms actually reach the UK for once I'd argue the best place for storms will always be the Midlands, Lincolnshire and Home Counties esp North of London.
  3. Yes it thundered here in stourbridge though I was on my way to stourport at the time but got caught in the really heavy rain and also the smoke still pouring out from the Lawrence's recycling centre fire!!! So there will we go out of this whole week stourbridge/dudley did better than the whole of the UK!!!! Here is the place to be lol. Best of all I've predicted this week totally correct now. I've said all week no storms would hit the SE and said the greatest chance today was in the West Midlands and that rung true... Albeit just!!!
  4. Could get interesting for me as I need to travel to Stourport on Severn very shortly and there seems right in the firing line!!!
  5. Indeed, could get interesting over here and I need to travel to Stourport on Severn Shortly, right in the firing line. However I feel its a bit too little too late but its brightened up here a bit so maybe a little nocturnal cooling later may help? Otherwise probably a bust today but not out of the question just yet.
  6. Thats crazy! As exciting as these storms are, no doubt they were a little terrifying as well! Just seen on blitzortung how many strikes were basically colouring the map was incredible. Very powerful.
  7. No sun here but very sticky! Unlikely to be any storms today though. Hamburg getting battered again though!
  8. Very humid here but looks like too much cloud for storms today. What a big bust this spell has been but I've enjoyed the warmth and sunshine!
  9. May have been a bit cooler last night but it looks like it will become very humid again later. Dewpoints should be quite high around 16-17c possible with temps around 20c.
  10. Well I was right again about no storms overnight! Again, better chance of the midlands seeing something later than the SE however even these chances are low to moderate.
  11. Christ!!! That's a beast. Must be so amazing if slightly scary to be under that. Amazing lightning and thunder. The thunder resembles a little bit of what we had in Falmouth 2 weeks ago!
  12. Estofex have been absolutely spot on and I fully agree with their analysis again for Thursday - pretty much zilch for the UK though I'd say a 30-40% chance of a thunderstorm somewhere between about Oxford, Birmingham and Cheshire in the afternoon.
  13. Ugh indeed, Just seen that. What a fail of a thundery spell. But the warmth, humidity and sunshine has been most welcome so not all bad!
  14. Hi Ian, What do the MO think about the chance of storms for the Midlands tomorrow afternoon? GFS especially seems keen on some good CAPE build up. Looks to be high dewpoints etc too. Yes, some crazy Lightning there! Im amazed the lights etc are still on there. Much better than our infrastructure!
  15. My only concern is cloud amounts. Good thing is the upper winds coming from the SE for most of tomorrow daytime which is often the best for storms here. Certainly more cape etc in the offing for the midlands tomorrow afternoon. Dew points look high too. Should be a muggy day again as it looks like the humid air is going to come back over us for a time. I think tonight's events etc have been way overhyped by some. Estofex has always had this right. I'm sure I read a comment the other night that estofex left the UK out because it was more concerned with action over the continent! In sorry but if there was a risk then estofex would of highlighted this. A lot of hope casting has occurred in here sadly.
  16. Brilliant webcam and storm! Again I'm ever more confident of my prediction from much earlier of next to no storms for the UK tonight. More chance of storms in the Midlands tomorrow afternoon than the SE tonight IMO.
  17. I'm Back in the midlands for the summer hols though your right the SW thread is far less moany and much more joyful!
  18. of course it will be reached. We nearly did do. You up there just seemed affected a bit more by the NW wind. Some ridiculous comments in here tonight.
  19. still warmUp there but so much warmer down here with 24c today. Big contrasts.
  20. ridiculous that you look for autumn after Wimbledon. Still so much of summer on offer after this point.
  21. Try a duvet with a lower tog rating! The nights are t that bad. Get a fan on you too and it isMore than capable then. Typical that people want the warmth and when it arrives it's too uncomfortable. Long may these conditions reign.
  22. Yep what a gorgeous afternoon. BBQ being fired up soon. PERFECT evening with another warm humid night ahead and a growing risk of some thunderstorms for the midlands tomorrow afternoon but still think tonight/tomorrow morning is unlikely.
