  1. Indeed this was the day of El Brumo. What a stunning event that was. Really quite dark even at 8am in the morning with some of the heaviest rain I have seen and very frequent lightning. I remember the main roads being very quiet as everyone either tried avoiding the storm or pulled over as the rain was so bad!
  2. Lovely sunny, warm day here. Sun has been out pretty much all day and clear skies overhead now.
  3. Most pleasant out there today. A fair amount of cloud this morning but some good sunny spells appearing now and pleasantly warm too.
  4. Absolutely correct Gordon. Sadly didn't have time to offer an explanation similar to yours earlier. Think people often associate the smell with thunder as because often petrichor is smelt following warm dry, weather, those first rains can often be accompanied by thunder in the breakdown.
  5. Fairly heavy shower just moved through here. Some fairly dark cloud based at times too. Have seen what may have been some scud cloud too.
  6. Welcome to the Midlands SS. Have you moved down here or just a temporary stay? Either way, enjoy and keep the summer sun coming.
  7. So much of Europe under stupid infill/convective cloud today. Very few places with truly clear skies!
  8. Really was a cracker here. No issues with wind. Pershore with ~19c confirming how well our part of the region did on Monday. Much better day than I expected. Was expecting far more cloud!
  9. Glorious conditions here yet again. Wall to wall blue skies and sunshine and very warm.
  10. Ridiculously thundery over NE France again this afternoon. Large continental land masses seem to make so much of andifference. Very very rare we see anything like what they are having with numerous closely packed very active cells.
  11. In fact it is now pretty clear overhead now so long warm sunny spells. Shame next week looks very 'meh' now. Hopefully get it out of the way before June kicks in!
  12. Yesterday was outstanding. Really strong sun too. Tanning well now. Even today is alright so far with some good warm sunshine even though there is more cloud.
  13. Tomorrow is looking glorious and I think around here could be one of the warmest spots too. Lots of sunshine to look forward too. Downhill somewhat thereafter but thankfully the proper cold avoiding us and possibly back into the high teens next week. Not bad. Meanwhile 22 or even 23c possible tomorrow.
  14. Another very warm day with a very sunny afternoon too. Very warm this evening still too. Fan on and windows open.
  15. Still about 20c at nearly 10pm. Still sitting outside comfortably in t shirt and shorts. Bliss.
  16. Still about 20c at nearly 10pm. Still sitting outside comfortably in t shirt and shorts. Bliss.
  17. A few fantastic small scale cumulonimbus clouds here. Proper anvil heads and everything.
  18. Outstanding out there. Fast approaching 25c already around here. BBQ being lit in 2 hours time.
  19. Hehe yes I admit those are most definitely big storms! To be fair, pretty widespread storms for the West Midlands region and parts of the E Mids and M4 Corridor areas today. Some very frequent lightning in some. So not a bad result at all. Looking forward to the warm sunshine tomorrow now.
  20. Think it is fair to say some pretty big storms have occurred over this way today! Definitely not just a couple of rumbles. Could to be fair have ended up that way though! lol. We had the very warm sunshine too albeit more hazy and the energy and forcing was there. Good call by the models today to be fair. Marble sized hail and constant rumbles and very frequent lightning all reported locally. However, looks like very warm sunshine for all tomorrow. Enjoy.
  21. Perhaps storms just beginning to quieten down a touch now with a few cells decaying now. Still some strong storms esp nr Shewsbury. South coast to watch out for some storms out of N France. I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if these are surfaced based thus they could struggle over the channel - many cells leaving the Cherbourg peninsula seem to die off when reaching the Channel. Most model output does not offer much interest overnight to be honest. Tomorrow looking dry for most. Conditions are there for a potentially intense storm but they will be very isolated if they occur. Looks very warm and sunny for many.
