  1. I must say that this morning was such a strange but amazing experience here in Cornwall. I left the house in Truro near 7.30am and was greeted to the warmest of winds. It really was like being in front of a hairdryer on a low function. It was about 20c and apparently some stations were near 22c in the early hours. Absurd temperatures (but most welcome!) for that time of the day and to be honest, warmer than a vast majority of day time maxes we get in Summer here!!! On my travels I was noticing how it was taking what seemed an age to lighten up. On my walk to work near Bodmin it was quite eerie as the clouds were low, moving fast and they had a greenish hue to them. The wind was starting to gust a fair bit too. It was quite dark throughout and it was so until about 9am when things started to brighten up. A particular memorable highlight this morning was the smell of the air which to me smelt like pine. It appears the smell was largely from the wildfires in Spain and Portugal. With everything else going on it was the most surreal but exciting experience. A truly tropical feeling spell of weather. All to brief as it has now cleared but a day I will remember for quite some time. All eyes on the weekend now which could bring even stronger winds for most in this part of the UK. Take care all.

  3. Pretty much constant flashes of lightning again here. What a delight to watch!
  4. Great stuff here. Seem to have a new cell with lightning to my east in addition to the beasty display to my north east now.
  5. Feeling very much like a continental European storm we often watch on the webcams this. Delightful display this. What a treat.
  6. Still some flashes here in Truro. Quite distant so must be what is further east.
  7. First UV Index of 2 for the year expected on Monday. Also it is not getting dark here till about 6pm now.
  8. The gaining daylight beginning to gather pace now. Sunset not too far off 5pm now down here and on clear days it isn't quite dark until nearly 5.30pm. It is also getting on for 6pm until the sky goes completely dark.
  9. Very showery here in west Cornwall today. Even a little hail in the showers at times.
  10. A pleasant enough week here. A little wet this morning but remarkably warm early on this week until end of Tuesday - felt very much like late summer minus all of the leaves on the ground! Looking showery for us in Cornwall tomorrow but hopefully most of it dying away to leave things dry for Bonfire night. Stay safe all.
  11. I don't mind the shorter days especially in the run up to Christmas as I do enjoy the cosy evening a indoors. However, being so far south here in the UK makes a noticeable difference at this time of year. Currently we have 30 mins more daylight than Newcastle and just over an hour more daylight than Lerwick! Our extra daylight ensures travel at rush hour is a least in the light for longest.
