  1. Great pics btw Blackie - you deserved to win that prize. That poor little baby should have been wearing a hat though; might have to find mine for this weekend!
  2. Very nice too Blackie - you had best make the best of snow then, as you won't get that in Thailand - but I do look forward to seeing the resulting pictures. Not been hiding so much as sheltering; not from the weather but from broken boilers and showers and dishwashers. Can anyone tell me if I am going to be able to drive to Sydenham for work on Monday morning from Gravesend? The right answer would be no...
  3. Slight dusting in Gravesend across the water today too, but don't suppose your new camera will reach this far - what did you get?
  4. Thanks all, as I thought, but worth a shot after a late night out and looking for an excuse! My colleague in Tunbridge Wells is working from home today because of the threat of snow, but I couldn't get away with that. We now have light drizzle and very grey skies and just not cold enough.
  5. At work in Sydenham, and wondering about prospects of snow in this area later in terms of getting back to Gravesend... In other words, will I have an excuse for leaving early??!!
  6. Well, it was a real bummer in Gravesend tonight - stood at my back door earlier feeling the snow on me, and then it petered out... Oh well... maybe tomorrow as xcweather is suggesting Gravesend will get some in the early hours. Just have to get my kids back from Canterbury somehow now...
  7. Methinks there may be a few people with slightly dirty minds on here - and all because I don't work in metric! And btw, not a sniff of any snow here tonight so far....
  8. More than I got in Gravesend, so I would love to get at least six inches tomorrow. Will be a real bugger not to get some after east kent has had so much - fingers crossed at the ready!
  9. Road and path covered here, but lighter flakes now - close to Valley Drive, but the other side of Thong Lane
  10. Ooh bigger flakes in DA12 now - all the way from DA11 obviously!
  11. We might have to start a snow dance class in Gravesend then.
  12. I have been keeping an eye on my lampost but nothing yet - but that's at least 3 of us hoping in DA12!
  13. Working from home today because of the icy roads - office is in Sydenham - and Gravesend is alternating between sunny skies and heavy snow flurries! Sent my youngest to school on the bus this morning and he called to say they are closing at 240 - 20 mins early!! Can anyone give an update please on the predictions for Friday/Saturday for this part, as I need to get my boys to Canterbury. Thank you!
  14. You beat me to it! Was just about to say, much heavier in the last half hour and really big flakes. With the wind blowing it across, it is settling on the small amount we had last night. Working from home tomorrow then!
  15. That's very close to my youngest son's school, so he is hoping I won't be able to make it in the morning... Snow easing here in Gravesend now though, much lighter flakes, so that may be it for tonight
  16. Still snowing heavily in Gravesend - methinks I should have gone to Sainsburys on the way home from work tonight...
  17. Erm, I am also in Gravesend, and it is snowing heavily outside my window - large flakes and settling nicely!
  18. Been a long time since I have been on the site, but have been lurking around the winter discussions and of course photography, and saw your post - well done on the award and good to see the pics on here. Love the storm chase ones of course, but particularly like the balloons in China, my favourite. Good luck with the mag too for 2010. All the best!
  19. Good to see you all out there having fun - hope the weather cooperates with you and your boys' toys go find those storms! Look forward to seeing more pictures and hearing more over the next few days.
  20. Quite a surprise to wake up to snow here in Gravesend, we normally don't get it, as seem to have weather all of our own sometimes! Snowing heavily with large flakes, adding to the covering on the ground; it looks like it could well stick around for a while. On Thursday, I sat in the garden with my mum having lunch in 18 degrees of sunshine - what a weird, wonderful country we live in!
  21. Went out on this glorious weekend to try and capture the sunset:
  22. Couple of entries before it closes, both taken a few weeks ago out on the highest point round here:
  23. Thanks for posting this, I will definitely make a note of the date, and set an alarm - mind you, might need to try and go to bed a little earlier first... And I will look forward to seeing some more photos of the event on here if, fingers crossed, we get a nice clear night. Definitely not one for my little digital to even attempt!
