  1. no damage here a lot of the village is without power ,to be honest i think that with the direction of the wind, westerly i am up a hill just under the brow of the hill I think that made it a bit better as we are on the east side of the brow ,i'm hoping people will only have slight damage and a thought to all the electric guys and others for keeping things going ,we ended up in a red ,
  2. robert ,a grab bag is a good idea ,didn't live on that side of the island but lived on the other side for years ,have a safe night ,not really started here yet ,but lashed down like we used to when we lived on lewis as we are at height
  3. ben wyvis is under that angry looking cloud ,that is rolling in towards us ,second pic is towards fyrish
  4. really heavy snow here with drifting ,i'll send someone out to get pics lol
  5. we got power back on properly late last night .Around here most of the downed trees were the ones with ash dieback ,a few firs ect though not many . Can i thank everyone for their ideas ,on resilience in power outages as we ended up with my grandchildren their house relies on electric ,we don't really having wood burning stove for cooking ,a few bits might have found their way into my shopping basket to make things more comfortable next time wind up radio and charger being one ,we were better equipped on Lewis when we lived there and the tech has really moved forward ,bored kids need something to do lol,
  6. power restored at 20.10 ,daughters and hubby had a hairy night and managed to get home at 8 20 this morning ,they are tired but ok
  7. wind is really ramping here ,think we are slightly more exposed from the north ,or NW ,waiting for my husband who has gone to pick up my daughter from work, there is a lot of trees with ash dieback , they have just had to turn back trees down ,i t's going to be a cold night in a car park
  8. very windy here ,hubby had to find a different route home as tree across the road ,must really get a anemometer , but we are at an elevated level
  9. weirdly there are wildfires going on one there was 2 Scottish isles ,on the west coast ,
  10. daughter took a wee walk ,up the hill near hers yesterday ,i did ask if i could nick her photo's to put on here ,no way was i slogging up there it's near dingwall
  11. just rain on the ice ,it started out as flurries last night i was expecting snow this morning but just ice and rain ,near dingwall
  12. apparently there are a few people , cars and a bus stuck ,snow in drifts 8 feet in places , i am near Dingwall ,but at about 500 feet pretty sure it's snowing ,but I'm not going to check to be honest till the morning
  13. ah here it is ,sleeting now ,and we are back to normal sideways precipitation, more or less bang on for us up here near inverness
  14. dingwall near inverness at about 500 feet ,it's been not to bad here ,no wind very quiet ,ferries not going to isle of Lewis today ,few rain showers and started the day with a fluffy snow shower ,all coming straight down ,not sideways as usual, looks like we are near the centre ,i'm sure it'll pick up ,it's just doing odd things up here
