  1. Hopefully these cold outbreaks will perhaps prevent April from being the 11th consecutive warmest month on record. We shall see.......
  2. 'Global population growth, imperialism, and an economic model based on extractive rules of exploitation and trade that ignores natural rates of resource renewal, set the stage for a convergence of several worldwide trends that threaten safe and sustainable human development: accelerating impacts from climate change, pollution, social inequality, biodiversity loss, and disease. ' Earth at risk: An urgent call to end the age of destruction and forge a just and sustainable future | PNAS Nexus | Oxford Academic ACADEMIC.OUP.COM Abstract. Human development has ushered in an era of converging crises: climate change, ecological destruction, disease...
  3. The ssts in the North Atlantic seem to be cooling down. Certainly look cooler compared to less then 2 weeks ago.
  4. Midlands Ice Age your welcome . Fair play to you if your thoughts are similar to that paper. Will be interesting to see what happens going forward.........
  5. Could a slower AMOC be helping to reduce the rate of sea ice loss in the Arctic. Perhaps a reason why the minimum extent record set in 2012 hasn't been beaten yet.
  6. richie3846 it's the rate of change that is also a big problem. The earth may have been warmer before but species evolved to cope with that warmer world . Dinosaurs being a perfect example, reptiles flourished for many millions of yrs in that warmer climate. The trend of the earth since has generally been a cooler trend. Modern nature has evolved in this cooler world. The sun was less bright millions of yrs ago so the planet was able to cope with much more co2 in the atmosphere then now. There seems to a trend between an ever brighter and warming sun over many millions of yrs and the general trend of co2 in the atmosphere decreasing over many millions of yrs. A delicate balance between the two. We are now altering that balance.
  7. SollyOlly yes and they are twisting things to say that it is the climate change movement etc that are the ones all about power and money etc. Scientists working for governments etc etc . That they want to control the people etc. Completely twisting everything around. That twisting of the truth is very dangerous.
  8. WYorksWeather yes I've seen that. But there is alot of denial out there. These people can not be reasoned with. They have it in their heads that its all a scam. Many of the comments on this video on YouTube really think this film is telling the truth. Dangerous stuff. There seems to be a fightback going on against climate science and I find that very worrying. Of course it is difficult to gauge how much of the general population believe this denial nonsense and maybe I'm being a bit ott.
  9. A propaganda piece for deniers. Climate the movie. Lol
  10. raz.org.rain This article about the possible link between the cold blob and warm summers in Europe. Just a moment... WWW.SCIENCE.ORG
  11. raz.org.rain yes I noticed that. Looks like it's back.
  12. With above average temperatures in the Atlantic combined with la nina I presume that could mean a very active hurricane season this yr?
  13. Was the drop quicker then expected?
  14. Wonder could the reason behind the warm oceans ( also having an effect on temperatures around the planet) be because of the oceans currents not operating properly as usual due to climate change.
  15. Perhaps the warmer then average sst's have helped to have had such a miserable winter?
  16. In Absence of True Seasons maybe it's a case of waiting for El Niño to completely fade? Then hopefully a shift to dryer conditions will occur. The warmer ssts of recent times I'm sure won't help though.
  17. Didn't realise until lately just how much denial is still out there. This was an article in fb that got over 1000 laughing emojis. With one comment in the comment section getting over 400 likes. Really makes me angry seeing this type of denial.
  18. al78 excellent lol. That's very true indeed.
  19. ANYWEATHER To your little dig at C02 levels. Its 0.04% actually. Such a small percentage but without it earths average temperature would be around minus 18c. Shows how sensitive the atmosphere is to co2.
