Nick, it is you who is jerking me off now! At first the weather was jerking me off! ^Karyo yes I'm afraid it is El Nino, again. Summer Sun northern blocking is indeed present but it is not even influencing us thanks to El Nino. Just like 1997/1998.

I also have a full week of work in my top floor apartment which will no doubt be well into the 30s. But I still massively prefer it to last weeks chilly, damp & grey northerly rubbish. My chillies, tomatoes & peppers are also smiling at the prospect! And then come the weekend I'm off to a nearby lake for a day of drinks & swimming! Perfect.

Somewhat strange comment. If that's the case, the OP doesn't seem to really like meteorology, just cold weather. Lots of interesting weather in the last year and a half for meteorologists, that's for sure.

It has been one of the most boring seasons I can remember, up there with "summer" 2011 and a few others. Cloudy dry September followed by almost non stop Southwesterly. No temperature extremes and frequent but seldom heavy rain.

I just hope that 2013 doesn't prove to be the year that the cold ended forever.

Have to agree with everything that others have already said; there is help out there. Just don't allow yourself to be dragged down by those who simply do not understand our difficulties: they know not what they do...

I was sorry to read this. I can sympathise with you. Do what everyone else has said and do talk to someone. It won't be an instant fix, recovery can be slow and erratic, there are no shortcuts I'm afraid, but it is important to talk when you reach a crisis point like you have. It is my sincere hope that things get better for you. If you can, get outside and enjoy this sunshine, be physically active, eat properly too. Those things actually have a proven physiological effect that can help improve your mood. All the best.

Does seem warmer than average months tend to fall in the cooler half of the year and vice versa!

weatherguru14. If there is one thing that makes me bloody goddamn mad more than mild/hot weather, it is wise crackers like you and cheese shooting me down in flames! I am sure they are the same members that annoy cold fans in the middle of winter.

Much more comfortable here now too - i.e. warmer evenings! When its closest to room temperature (21-22c) then the outdoors is at its most comfortable!

It was the first half of Spring 2013 that was awful. 2nd half was decent. This Spring is proving very tedious and April seems to be turning into yet another month with average temperatures day in day out after more variation at the start of the month.

Already down to 10c here and it's not even 9pm yet!

And of course August would be the month wouldn't it!

2014 has certainly proven to be the year without a winter. January and February were wretchedly bad and December has been pretty rank as well.

True - Dec 2010 at low level - you have to walk for it if you want it.

Lol, forgot about the infamous torpedo. What winter was that now and did it ever fire?!

That would be the infamous "winter" 2015/2016.  After that awful recordbreakingly mild, wet, windy and stormy monsoonal December, I remember the papers in early January 2016 were hyping up a so-called frigid Polar Vortex to hit the UK after the Arctic Stratosphere was "torpedoed" by an exceptionable Sudden Stratospheric Warming event.  Needless to say it was a non event for the UK.

That's an example of where not to use a soundbite in a desperate world.  It was clutched onto like a drowning man to a straw and morphed to an out of control monster.
