    Summer8906 not 40C though, not even 37C! It had not been hotter than 2022 before Yes 1976 was hotter overall, but I think that record is on borrowed time now!

    We may as well not even bother looking for signs of cold during winter now, it would almost be as pointless as looking for it in July/August! Not that I necessarily disagree with you mind.

    I'm thinking a third 11C CET year on the trot is getting more and more likely and could well surpass 2022 and 2023, making it the warmest year on record!

    raz.org.rain I’ve not seen any cool and wet summer predictions myself? Or are you alluding to the idea of a rapid switch from El Niño to La Niña perhaps making for a poor summer?

    July 2023 had a below average CET compared to the recent averages, but at 16.1C, it was 0.2C above the 61-90 average. However, like you say, taking into account the synoptics, it should have been cooler than what it was. I think the high SST's went some way to prevent that.
