  1. Hoping the promise of mild, dry weather comes off, looking forward to longer, warmer days. Any cold weather can stay away, not wanting a last snowy hooray to winter. It had its chance and blew it.

Nope, not even cold rain welcome. Craving warmth and sunshine.

      we have it in london

  2. Never thought I'd be able to say we had 20 hours of continuous snow. Never thought when I saw the forecast of 5-10cm that I'd stop measuring when it got to 28cm, as although still snowing heavily, the weight was compacting it. Mendips struck lucky again, oh happy days!

It’s fab when it happens isn’t it?  Enjoy to Max!

Think I’ve had enough now (near llangollen)  to be honest, slippy icy roads up steep hills to get to aged people and their pets even with a small 4x4 gets a tad wearing, especially on clutch and brakes.

But I do long for the pure silence we had in the last three big snows, 2010/11, 2013 and March last year, no traffic, no noise, just the whisper of snow falling.❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

That is what I love about snow is that it dampness down background noises.  Even if the roads do not get blocked in Thurrock at least when it snows heavily, they drive much slower than normal.  I notice at night after a heavy fall of snow, there is a fluorescent glow coming from the snow making the night look less dark than usual. The snow for Thurrock came 24 hours later than it was forecasted which happened last year as the Met Office weather station is in Dartford in Kent.  I hope that there will be lots more snow where the whole of the UK as well as surrounding islands will be covered in the lovely white stuff.

  3. Took the time to comment on the models, made an effort to calm nerves by saying they're wobbling, remember the bigger drivers are still on course. Tried to lighten the mood a bit by doing it in rhyme (it may have rhymed but it was still on topic) and it gets binned. Harsh. Could you not have moved it to the banter thread if it annoyed you so much?

Sorry Dawn, I know it was to lighten up the mood, but the volume of off-topic posting in there are the moment is so extreme that we're struggling to keep up and I didn't have time to move it.

Thanks for bothering to reply. I get your point, really I do, but it wasn't off topic. It was completely comment upon the models and the major drivers. Going by the number of other folk liking it, it wasn't causing a problem, quite the reverse, it did lighten the mood. Hey ho.

  4. Packing another fairy earlier today to ship international, it occurred to me that in two short years my fairies have flown off to 4 continents, and virtually every county here, from the Hebrides to the tip of Cornwall. Never imagined they would go so far when I first started making them 🙂

Is it politically correct to call them "fairies"?

Packing fairies  too could fall foul 🤔

Nooooo. It's an enormous Nordman, if it went up on the 1st it would be bald by Christmas. Never used to go up until Christmas Eve.

    3. lassie23

oh lol my decorations went up 1st, house looks rubbish when they are down

    4. jethro

To be honest, I haven't had time to put it up anyway. I do miss them when they're down but love how much bigger the house feels once everything's cleared away.

  8. Over the moon and doing a happy dance, I've now sold all of my Tweed Christmas fairies. Plus, they've gone all over the world - success :-)

Thank you! It's been a lot of work but it's paying off :D

    3. Spikecollie

Congratulations! Sounds like a lovely idea - something handmade with care in among all the cheap Christmas tat which I do my best to avoid!

    4. jethro

That's exactly the idea, no mass produced, faceless tat.

  9. Life... It has to be fun. If it isn't, it has to be interesting. If it's neither, then it's time to find one or the other doing something else.
