  1. Excellent video, David. Love it! Storm kicked off early here about an hour ago. But nothing like that.
  2. Over the Hogs Back to the north we have thunder lightning hail and very heavy rain. The road is awash and flooding is imminent. Come over and see for yourself. But you may have it already in Godalming. :-)
  3. Flash bangs every 15-30 seconds here now. Rain coming down hard. Whoops! That was a loud one.
  4. Thanks, Tangerine. Great info.
  5. 2 Lightnings and 2 thunders in the past 5 minutes here. Lashing down with rain for ten minutes. Radar show more coming up from Portsmouth with lightning.
  6. This may just sound a pretty dumb question so please bear with me. If the ice is melting anywhere on land, then presumably the sea levels will rise. If it's melting on the oceans then the sea levels will remain unchanged. Now I do not know this because I haven't looked into it in any great depth, but I have not seen any evidence of any sea levels rising anywhere. If the situation is becoming 'critical' as some would suggest, why has the level not risen? Or has it and I just missed it in Portsmouth Harbour...?
  7. torrential rain and flash/bangs for 15 minutes...whoops there's another big bang!!!
  8. Just had 30 minutes torrential rain and thunder. Tropical storm like. Now clearing and brightening up. Looks like heading North toward Windsor and West London...
  9. I can see a very blurry moon out there now...and no snow falling. It's stopped!
  10. It's slowed down a bit here but we must have had about 2 inches...
  11. Just been hit by a mini tornado. Tree across the road went down and huge squall passing with torrential rain. Definite rotation of winds... Scary!
  12. I can smell it here too. It's yukkie...! I have seen only one aircraft today. This is, obviously, very unusual for this area as Farnborough airport is just down the road and gets busier every year. An aircraft took off from there this morning about 1000. That is the only one I have seen or heard all day. Yesterday, all aircraft from LHR stopped at about midday. Haven't seen any 'copters either today. Very quiet... Almost eerie. A guy on the radio said the last big blast from this mother lasted on and off for 18 months. Great! Wonder what the sunset will bring tonight? Andy
  13. Farnborough on 29° and Heathrow is on 30°
  14. Both Heathrow and Farnborough showing 29° but my own thermo is reading 31.3° That was at 1320 and the 1350's should be out any time now. EGLF 291320Z 17007KT 9999 FEW049 29/14 Q1018 EGLL 291320Z 18006KT 130V250 CAVOK 29/13 Q1018 Best Wishes Andy
  15. So move... Have you not heard? The grass IS greener on the other side. Problem is, you haven't seen it OR tasted it yet. Are you ever going to find out...? GFI, matey! Andy
  16. Sorry. But I find it laughable that there is all this reaction to something that 'might happen to us.' Millions of people die worldwide from diseases or even dis - eases and no-one gives a flying you know what. Why are we worried when hundreds of thousands of people in this country die from smoking. drinking, cancer of one kind or another, heart disease and no-one seems to care less. Yet a few people die four thousand miles away and our tabloids panic that ten/twenty of us may suffer a little from it. Let's grow up, people. Get Real and live in the moment! Andy PS If you wake up in the morning with a sniffle, don't panic. You may just have hay fever...or, hopefully...Hay - fever!
  17. A ten minute thunderstorm passed through here about an hour ago. Pretty loud too...now very muggy and damp.
  18. "Harrogate, North Yorkshire 185m (soon to be Bonn, Germany) " Why...? Are the Germans coming because I'd better tell my folks over on the Wetherby Road there's trouble coming...! Andy
  19. After the hawk had it's lunch we did move the feeder more toward some conifers. Then the squirrel was able to jump from the Acer onto the peanuts feeder, so we had to move it again. They seem quite happy with where it is now - the birds, I mean. The squirrel problem has been solved by greasing the pole with a mixture of Olive oil and Petroleum jelly or Vaseline. The first time he tried after we put that on should have been put on you Tube. It was hilarious to see the look of complete bewilderment on this squirrels face as he slid straight back down...on his butt!. He only tried once more. Victory is sweet... Best Andy
  20. I hear the 'owls' in the woods late at night but don't ever see any. We had a Sparrow Hawk in the garden eating our resident Blackbird last year. Then after we put up the bird feeder, I saw a Blue Tit munching on some peanut and suddenly a Hawk took it from the feeding station. Is that why they are called Hawks Takeaways? The rest of the predators I see south of the A31 Hogs Back for some reason. Andy
  21. Hey Dave, I find I suffer from the very same problem. My situation occurs the day after a bottle of 'heavy' South African red with too many Sulphites in - especially one over 13.5% - say 14%+ ish. I suffer a terrible thunderstorm the next day. As for thunderstorm forecasting, I go to the wine store and look at the Sulphite content and % and deduce from that what the forecast for the next day will be. Depending on my choice, which is usually bad I hasten to add, I find that it is definitely related to a trough the next day. This is usually the onset of very dry air producing an extremely dry tongue. As for humidity - sheesh! Andy PS Don't try this at home...!
  22. Again, don't see many Wrens round here and am quite amazed when I do. Maybe cos they are small...? Seems you guys in the north tend to have a lot more variety than we do in our suburban gardens here. Bit predictable round here really. Too many cars and 747's flying about...maybe?! Andy
