  1. Thanks for all your updates. Keep safe all of you, not too bad here, winds gusting to just over 60mph. Has been a fairly quiet winter so far. B)
  2. Your warning was much appreciated cookie. We were expecting winds to be strong but not as strong as they are. Currently - average wind speed 58.7mph, highest gust 65.6mph. Not sure where it is heading but batten down the hatches and secure all garden furniture etc if it is headed your way.
  3. Thanks for that link WM and also to others for further links. Unfortunately the nearest buoy to me, M1, hasn't reported for almost a year. Very frustrating
  4. Winds overnight gusting over 60mph with highest gust 66.1mph. Very heavy squally showers popping up without warning and suddenly appearing on the radar and dying out as they cross land.
  5. Good to see that normal service is being resumed. Must say that the change has been welcome (no rain) but it is getting boring now.
  6. According to XC late Weds, Thurs and Friday look interesting for more windy weather.
  7. WM or anyone else that can help - XC are predicting strong winds for the west coast of Ireland for Weds, Thurs and Friday any further information available? Thanks in anticipation
  8. OOPS apologies I got the average wind speed figures the wrong way round!! It should read 45.9mph. It was too late to edit when I realised my mistake.
  9. Winds here increasing after a lull at about 4.00am. Average winds 49.5mph with regular gusts over 50mph. WM - I am in your 30mph area. It only went below 30 for a 3 hour period during the night
  10. Brian I have just read this which is a little spooky as we were talking about it here. We had thunder and lightning this morning around 6.30- 7.00am but I think I was one of the few who heard it. There was also some thunder and lightning later around 11.00am.
  11. Roger did his predicition here: http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?s...51&start=51 He is exceptionally accurate when it comes to wind predicitions
  12. [quote name='cookie' date='15 Jan 2008, 11:13 PM' post='1167127' its ok mate, I don't think mods are main forum guys ever come into this thread so don't worry quote] LOL cookie Wind still gusting here but not as bad. Rain still down. It seems that all the rain from the Atlantic over the past few weeks has hit land just where I am.
  13. No major road flooding at present. Grounds are saturated and rivers have flooded but luckily the flood plains are just that so there are lots of lakes and 'turlochs' everywhere In case you don't know what a turloch is: http://www.tcd.ie/Botany/turloughs/ Apologies for going slightly off topic
  14. Bit of a surprise here! Sustained winds of 45.6mph gusting to 50.1mph. Valentia is showing winds up to 32mph with Shannon only 15mph. Squally rain as well. We have had almost 50ml of rain over the past 2 days.
  15. Winds increasing rapidly here over the past hour. Current wind speed 61.6mph with maximum gust 66.8mph
  16. Wind speed currently 28.1mph with gusts to 34.5. It is bitterly cold with temperature 0.6 degrees. Not nice at all with driving sleet/rain as well
  17. Just had a look at xc weather - looks interesting for Saturday.
  18. It is really frustrating that there are not more 'official' weather stations on the west coast. There is Valentia which is almost south west and then Bellmullet. There is such a huge coastline between them. Shannon is a useless indicator as it can be blowing a real storm here and be calm there. The M1 buoy which was probably the best indicator of the wind speed for most of the western coast has not worked since last year. Wind now gusting 54.1mph Great site blackdown.
  19. They are already gusting over that now! Winds have really picked up in the last hour. Thanks blackdown for the heads up for next week. Looks as if the winds are going to continue.
  20. Winds speeds now averaging 54.1mph with regular gusts over 60. Anyone have any links to satellite pictures of this low? Thanks in advance
  21. Typical for Christmas Eve! Hope the ferries run cookie and what about poor Santa? He had better not be affected
  22. Squally showers. windy Current temp - 12.8 Wind westerly (average) 33.3 - 51.1 max Gusting 33mph - 57.1mphmax Rain - 16.1mm
  23. Thanks for your suggestions. Will have to make my mind up and get one ordered in the next few days.
