  1. I'm pretty sure 2010 was mostly luck. We had around 40cm in Creswell which is c. 80m asl, Worksop got similar amounts and is even lower. Western Sheffield is edge of or even in the peak district so is always going to do better than much of Leeds. As others said had this been December or January we could have added several cms in places - though ppn intensity was also an issue. 14cm in March is very good and Roundhay is only between 100 and 150m asl.

  2. Best snow event i can remember for a long time - I'll rely on others to tell me for Leeds as I was in London since 2016. Well-done to the Met Office on the amber warning - got just under 15cm level and 20cm on the grass. If only yesterdays snow stuck a little better, we might have gotten closer to 2010. Melting rapidly on plants etc.. ,though i reckon we'll keep cover in the shaded areas until Sunday. The downsides of snow in March! I'm off to London today and back Sunday, hope you all see some snow Saturday evening (looks another 2-5cm widely prior to turning much milder)

Always an odd time when you think 4 weeks today we could be realistically hitting the mid 20s if any heat makes it!

  3. Settling on the roads and pavements now, though back to light snow as we seem to be in a bit of a gap. Not expecting anything near the warning level in my part of Leeds - elevation and lack of intensity hasn't helped (can really see the elevation in that the top part of Roundhay it is sticking to roads, c, 140m, but nearer Oakwood (under 100m) its really struggling.  With another c. 12 hours of off and on snow i am hopeful for a decent covering of several cm's - lets see!

Lets hope so, it has gone darker.  0.7c here with drip drip but that stuff to the South looks very interesting...perhaps it will cause rush hour carnage.  A know a number of people who think that it is and have started venturing out.  Lets face it drip drip normally means the end of a snow event but not today.

Lets hope so - i always thought later this evening would be best. Cookridge has a bit more elevation than Roundhay so hopefully less marginal for you!
