  1. Yeah. You can see it on the accumulation radar, as the topography increases west of the A1. Only 6mm of rain in York. Apparent on the radar now, with a much lighter gap west of the Lincolnshire Wolds
  2. Indeed - hopefully we don't see too manty major rain events for the rest of this autumn! Looks unsettled to the end of the month at least! Now hit 40mm as per the amber warning minimum and rain is pepping up. Reckon we'll hit 50mm - a pretty soggy day!
  3. As others have noted the heaviest precipitation seems to be keeping to the south of Leeds, though models suggest it may intensify later this evening (though should hopefully avoid any major flooding issues). 34mm of rain so far today - if anything the wind a more notable feature!
  4. Will be interesting to see how high it goes - at least another couple of hours of heavy rain according to the radar, and even after that rain will continue into the evening,. Rush hour will be fun!
  5. Nearly 30mm of rain so far today - seems the worst of it is in SY and Lincolnshire. Radar / models suggest 40mm to 60mm a reasonable landing point for here, considerably more on the east facing slopes (especially Peak District).
  6. Predicted levels have dropped a bit with the latest UKV update. Will be a nowcast, though with amber warnings some localised flooding definitely seems likely in prone places!
  7. Thanks, so the ground would have bene very saturated! Will be interesting to see how close to reality those forecast river levels are. You'd think EA would be warning
  8. Seems a bit extreme. Though June 2007 was 100mm in 24 hours? Models don't rule that possibility out for tomorrow (though heaviest rain much more focused on east facing slopes). Will also depend on how saturated the ground is. We've not seen any exceptional rain in the last several weeks. Either way definitely some flooding risk in the next 48 hours!
  9. Hi Paul - is the plan to still role this out? Would be good to have with all the recent rain!
  10. Chance of the first air frost in parts of the region early next week? Definitely a risk of the first ground frost!
  11. Can see the constant lightening from NE Leeds. Low rumbling too. Looks like we'll miss the action for the rest of the evening. Reasonable looking chances tomorrow though!
  12. So annoyingly my vantage stopped working on the 5th - ive been away since then. Met Office stations suggest Leeds didn't reach 30c. Can anyone in the North East Leeds area verify?
  13. Interesting, have not lived up north for the past several years, so don't recall how rare lack of 30c is. GFS 12z ups the heat for Thursday and Friday (26 to 28c). Remains warm thereafter.
  14. Another awful day! Will be interesting to see the top temp tomorrow.. Looks to be turning warmer next week at least, with the low 20s for much of our region. Perhaps a little higher towards the weekend, though not sustaining. I have still not managed to break 30c yet, and that doesn't look likely in the next 14 days. Last chance in the 2nd half August / 1st half September?
  15. What a miserable weekend! Temperature hardly climbing above 16c and constant rain. It is also now the wettest month since i relocated to Leeds last summer, with 126mm of rain so far (and the GFS suggests up to another 20 to 25mm before months end). Hopefully August redeems itself. June was good but I've yet to record 30c (29.2c so far)!
  16. Yeah a bit frustrating. Began to break up late afternoon with clear sky's now! More cloud forecast for tomorrow, though hopefully clears by the afternoon..
  17. Sun came out mid morning but now back to full cloud- more so than forecasted. Satellite shows it affecting most of Yorkshire and parts of the NE. Full sunshine 30 miles down the road. Hopefully it breaks up later in the day..
  18. Much cooler today though okay when the sun briefly appeared. Next week should see cloud in the morning burning back into the afternoon. Hopefully quickly!
  19. Nice sunny start though perhaps turning cloudy early afternoon and for most of the BH weekend. Hopefully overestimated by the models!
