Reckon around a cm on the car and everything else white over. Temp dropped to -0.2c. @The PIT intrigued to know what this heavier precipitation about to hit you falls as..?

Moderate snow now here (63m) settling on most surfaces, a little bit wet, frustratingly about 30m just too low..
Temperatures still appear to be dropping, albeit very slightly - now down to 0.0c. It will turn soon, but you'll be good for a few hours yet (especially in any heavier bursts).

Snow has pepped up a little now - sticking everywhere. Temp still at 0.1c! Metoffice suggests a transition around midnight, which tallies with the models
-
Still light snow though a heavier burst saw it stick on the road. Temp down to 0.1c. Judging by reports further south perhaps another few hours before it turns. Shame it will be gone in the morning

Lovely big fat flakes falling whilst watching uncle buck on tv, doesn't get any more Christmassy than this!
Not going to settle but is what it is
Same here, though still quite light. Settling on the cars so far. Temp of 0.2c dew point 0c

Precipitation has hit the Sheffield area so will be interesting to see what the reports are. I reckon for most it will turn to rain quite quickly. Still the snow stuck around for the day!

Similar amounts here in Kippax perhaps a bit less. A bit disappointed that the heavier stuff stayed just south of here rather than what was modeled (was supposed to be a bit further north the heavier stuff.)
Yeah, bit frustrating though we can't complain ( better than most of the country!). Perhaps a temporary top up in the morning before a thaw. I'm now looking to festive period for our next chances..

Good luck to those staying up to the early hours. Think I'll call it a night. Fingers crossed for a cm or two by the morning!

The alignment is still good but too far south though convection west has exploded and so will hopefully still move east.
Annoyingly it looks like the reformation after the shadow has been gold for Doncaster.
The blob approaching Liverpool looks to have our name on it, should it survive the journey! So far precipitation passing c. 5 miles of the south to me and revigorating just to the east !

Metoffice app flipped to 4 hours of heavy snow - that definitely guarantees a dusting if I'm lucky . In seriousness that band over north Wales has hit the Irish Sea. Will be interesting to see how much it survives!

Those of us in North Leeds should keep an eye on the precipitation over north Wales. So far the radar is tallying with precipitation strengthening east of the A1, though I did manage get a few flakes from the bit just south of York!
-
Hopefully makes it across the pennines without dying out! Got to -5.2c here last night. Top temp of 1.0c so far, back to 0.7c. Fingers crossed for another dusting before a thaw from Monday.

A few fine flakes blowing in the air. Temp climbed to 0.9c from -0.6c in the last hour or so, though dew point still -1c. Don't think I'll bother staying up!
-
The heavier stuff, if it maintains intensity, should hit somewhere just south of Leeds to Sheffield. Though all look to be in shot of a dusting

Weather warning extended for snow and ice tonight to include South and West Yorkshire and into the East Midlands
Yep, that will have jinxed it

Thanks for the update!

Rain starting to get lighter here. 53mm today, 69mm since yesterday. Still heavy across South Yorkshire so looks like you'll make 100mm Pit!
-
Really pepping up across Sheffield and not really relenting across Chesterfield. Must be on the edge of having warranted a red warning, especially Chesterfield?

Has turned to fine ice pellets now. Temperature is fluctuating around -0.2/0.3c. Think I'll call it a night now. Have about 4cm on surfaces that experienced no melt since this morning. Will be interesting to see how much remains by morning
