If i was in Canada, probably lots! Here, it would be jail. But then rightly so. Can only shoot if its less than 50m away, and likely to attack. Although with my aim i shall not entrusted with that task :p

  12. Just had a go at writing a winter forecast. I'm favouring a colder than average winter :)https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/72635-the-seasonal-forecast-thread/page-32

You'll have to link me to it if you find it! Optimism from some on this forum is quite low when its mild for snow!

I wouldn't worry, the climate is so chaotic its impossible to produce accurate forecasts. However, i don't know what factors hes considering ,as most point towards a colder than average winter!

  15. Finally got my Davis weather station. Didn't bother with the data logger as im moving about these next few years. However, given that we pay 200-£300 for the weather station it seems pretty ridiculous that why want another £100-£150 to simply transfer data to a computer!

Yeah, i've got the vantage vue. I just feel given the progression of technology that it could be inbuilt, even if it did add a small amount to the price. I do intend to get the pro one day, although im moving around a lot now with my last year of uni and jobs so data logging would have been a bit of a waste!

But i could do all of that on my La Crosse weather station, although i'd generally use the raw data and put it into excel or SPSS.Something im more familiar with!

  17. Have decided to invest in a Davis Vantage Vue, hopefully a wise purchase!

  18. Just finalised my masters funding; i'm doing an MSc in Polar and Alpine environments (i.e. climate change impacts). This time next year i'll apparently be in Greenland or Svalbard for several weeks!

Thanks!Yes it is;Felix is running the course this year so we are most likely to go to Svalbard. Are you a previous student at Sheffield or just know of Eds work? He was certainly one of my favourite lecturers, albeit hes a bit eccentric

  19. We need a new name for this late Winter/early Spring period of weather. Do you prefer Sprinter or Wing?

  20. You have to wonder why a red warning was not issued for parts of Northern England tonight. Atrocious conditions in some places.https://twitter.com/DaveThroupEA/status/294947861051879424/photo/1 m6 currently.

Yes, i mean i remember when we had 40cm of snow back in Nov 2010, no red warning then. I wonder what it takes for our areas?

  21. Christ, think of all this water from melting snow late this weekend. So much over such a great space as well. One of the snowiest cold spells in years arguably for many. Flooding a big if not major concern now.

I know, we have had around 10cm in the last few hours, on to top of snow that hasn't really melted
