  1. *Stormforce~beka* We are 20 years in so well past it then lol We are 53years in, and ceased supporting these "special" days. At this time of year bunches of daffodils means I remain to be fed and watered by my other half! The roses will arrive in the garden in a few months time.
  2. Morning All, passing light shower just cruised through. The overnight low of 10.7°C at: 06:11 has eased slowly up to 13.1°C, RH90% with a light breeze in from the SE. From Above On Golden sands Looking fairly shabby in Cornwall then Devon and South Wales today.
  3. jy Nice Valentines afternoon tea.Cakes and scones returned home in boxes very filling but very nice.There...men can be romantic lol! Red rose clinched firmly with the teeth I trust?
  4. Of note we get an "extra" day of winter this time, I wonder how much difference that might make (another rainy day)? Also means Spring will be delayed 24hours. ECMWF doesn't suggest much change, a slight decrease in temps GFS follows along
  5. Morning All, a wet start to the day, currently drizzling as the main area of rain has moved out east. The overnight low of 10.8°C at: 04:06 has scrambled up to 11.3°C, RH97% and a light breeze in from the SW. On Golden sands
  6. Managed to scrub the patio today in the pouring rain, at least it's lifted some of the algae and looks a tad bit cleaner, next is to apply some proper algae cleaner in the spring once the rainy season eases, slightly. Which given the current suggestion of a technical SSW, suggests it could be a damp prolonged winter to summer, Spring may return next year.
  7. Morning All, the overnight low of 2.8°C at: 00:00 has jumped up to 8.7°C, RH94% with light rain, which looks as though something a little heavier is nearby.
  8. Morning All, a nice frost to begin the week, with the overnight low of 0.1°C at: 07:50, currently 0.8°C, RH97% and still air, with a cloudless sky. From Above On Golden sands
  9. Brrrr, init cold here? Back from the delights of Switzerland, certainly feels colder here, and we were welcomed with some light rain! So this week looks set fair for more Atlantic oopse, I have to recall all the so called folks saying winter will be back end loaded, yes it's mid Feb, but would you really call for extreme winter weather at this point with CC and El Nino, have not changed our local weather (ignoring the snowfall further north as that is usual in a British winter). Reading the various areas of reporting we seem to be heading to this: Predict a 79 percent chance that “neutral” conditions — the absence of either El Niño or La Niña — will be in place sometime between April and June. Which sorta leaves March open to whatever, and what of the summer! Being out of the country the last week seems we have missed the traditional large amounts of southern Uk rainfall, the New Forest is flooded wherever you look, and I have loads of buckets full to the brim. One point of note, it's not only the UK being affected by the seasonal warmth. The traditional celebration for the end of winter were moved in Lucerne by two weeks because the normal date at the end of Feb. proved last year that it was too warm for people to wear the celebration attire, face masks and clothing. It was noted even moving forward 2 weeks this year hasn't helped because again the temperatures were above 11C.
  10. Morning All, a cooler night with the low of 4.7°C at: 02:48, currently 6.8°C, RH97% and light rain, with no air movement. AWD sounds a tad bit Groundhog style.
  11. Meanwhile here, some drizzle this morning, which eventually disappeared, leaving a decent view of the Eiger, the peak on the right with cloud on the North face. More light rain expected tomorrow, but it's FASNACHT here tonight, carnival begins , canons fired at 5am this morning, marching bands at 7am and again at 8. Lots of folk dressed up ready to celebrate in all different types of costumes to celebrate for the next 6 days.
  12. Morning All, the overnight low of 5.2°C at: 00:00 has climbed slowly to 7.1°C with heavy drizzle, RH97%, with a light breeze from the E. Locally, woken at 5:00 with the sound of three cannon shots to mark carnival, now at 06:30, a band marching down the Main Street. By ‘eck they like their carnival season. The weather has changed here, rain overnight, and still light rain this morning, so the peaks are now in cloud.
  13. Morning All, a cooler night with the current temp the overnight low of 5.9°C at: 05:26, RH97% and the wind has abated in the last few hours. Further rain on its way in from the SW.
  14. Fog has finally lifted here, after 4days, rain expected in Lucerne by Friday, like most of southern Europe Switzerland is in a snow drought. Talking to a ski instructor, he says it’s been a very poor winter snow wise, as the snow they have had typically lasts a few days before melting. At least we have a clear starry sky visible tonight, temp is currently 3C.
  15. Morning All, a mild night with the overnight low of 10.7°C at: 00:00 which has ramped up to 10.8°C, RH90% with a fresh breeze in from the W- SW. Locally it’s foggy and -1C.
  16. Morning All a mild night with the low of 8.6°C at: 06:19, which has risen to 8.7°C, RH88% under mainly cloudy skies, with a light breeze in from the W - SW. Locally it’s 2°C with pea soup fog, which hopefully we will manage to get above as we hit the peak today at over 3000m.
  17. Andy Bown it is the GuggUp gnome, and he sits there staring at the mountain of the same name through carnival season, which is now.
