    Wind has now finally calmed down so the 48 hour onslaught draws to a close in this part of the country. The sustained Wind of the past few days will live long in the memory, unless of course it gets top trumped by another system later on this season.

    Still quite nasty out there. Roof still shaking and our now 'un-sealed' window is still moo-ing. Bring on the Calm....please.

    Looks like it's 'Fallen Tree' bingo on the Travel reports for many areas. Incidents coming up all the time. Norfolk in particular looks badly hit.

    Very Wild Night here. Sustained wind has only just dropped below 30mph, from a fairly rough 40mph, with regular gusts up to 70. We were not in the Meto yellow area, being just slightly South. Roughest period of weather (here at least) for many years. I have no qualms with the yellow warnings put out as the majority were tucked up in bed. I do however feel a stronger warning could have been useful since a great deal of freight moves at night and from the reports this morning, some of these vehicles were dreadfully exposed (without adequate warning) and have ended up parked on their sides.

    Seem's to have been a pivotal 24 hours in terms of changes to the percieved Thurs/Fri trends seen consistently over the past few days. Previous suggestions of it being very intense and a Northerly track being replaced by a less intense and more southerly track are interesting to follow. I'm certainly no expert but at the moment it seems to be playing roulette with all of us with the wheel certainly still spinning.

    Gusty morning in the fenland lowlands. Patio table took off which is a first. It's now calmed down a great deal but I suspect the worst is to come..

    Consistently gusty all day today and continues to remain that way. It gets to a point where 25mph mean speeds and 40mph gusts begin to get slightly oppressive e.g. lovely sunny evening but not pleasant to be outside

    Gusting to almost 60mph with a sustained blow of 35mph here near the Wash. Looking like its now starting to get its act together now and will probably peak around 3.30pm.

    Reading the met office forecast for Monday for our area (Spalding) and incidently not in the warning area, the wind speeds / gusts forecasted are superior to the vast majority of locations within the warning area. Being in the "sheltered east", 15 miles from the shores of the Wash and at sea level, I often thought these were ingredients for reduced wind speed and gusting. What theory therefore would the met office be basing their projections on?

    Sleet and rain for the most part this morning in the lowlands of South Lincolnshire! I think forcasting is always going to be tentative but I would not give up hope further inland.

    A relative newbie to all of this chart analysis etc but finding it fairly interesting! In comparison to the armageddon'esque news reporting at the start of last week with regards to the extreme weather forecast the south of the country, there seem's to be a calm and casual approach to the next few days for our area. Especially since in some places, 20 - 30 cm of lying snow will certainly become over 100cm in places. Exciting stuff indeed! Anyway, clouds gathering now in south lincolnshire. Hopefully my snow shield won't be working this evening!

    Sitting in south lincs at the mo....it really is going off with a BIG bang! Some crazy cloud formations and movement!
