"Exceptional lee gusts for NE england and Yorkshire" From jo. I'm perfectly placed for this. Will report my gusts as they happen, with photo evidence. Last winter these lee events caused massive damage round here with top gusts of 89.4 and 99.2 mph before my annemometer was destroyed. -

Paul Hudson on yorkshire weather says widespread gusts to 70 mph especially west and south yorks. The whole yorks region will take a reasonable pasting. The potential here is overshadowed by the severity up scotland. -

will it happen though? According to the forecast on xc weather for my locale, the 06Z says it should be gusting 53mph here. 17.8 mph is the max here in the last hour with a mean of 7.3 mph. Gone a little wayward i'd say? -

Quickie from me, for those of you with an android device go to google play and get the Blitzortung lightning detector. Marvelous little app, I love it, gets addictive. It updates every 60 seconds. -

Model output discussion 13th Feb onwards
Richie V replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Quicky from me (oh god) DO NOT let the guard down yet. The next round is nearer than you think. Looks like I've already won my windiest feb on record bet (750 quid in my pocket) I'm recieving technical assistance on last weds storm, I recorded 99.2mph before the anemometer and pole were destroyed. -
Here we go then.... Here is the wrecked pole and the new mega long 8 ft replacement. Not sure if you can make out the damage on next doors house, the entire corner of the house is gone.
-
I bit of closure on weds storm here for me. It looks likely there was a huge set of gusts but I just don't buy my stations 99.2 mph at the point of failure. Having said that there seems to be a clean line of chaos from darton high street, up through darton school and on the higher streets of my estate then over to and slightly beyond Mapplewell village. A run of 3 miles. I have a picture of my anemometer pole. How do I post it here of android?
-
I'm annoyed, can't afford new anemometer or rain gauge until the start of march. Oh and one of next doors tiles cracked my en suite bathroom window. It also looks like that it was one of next doors tiles wiped out the anemometer. Their red tile debris is on my roof, will inspect in daylight tommorow.
-
Effing great, just great. The fence murdered my rain gauge.

the time for 99.2 mph was 20:31:06
