And just as the storm arrived, we had a massive power cut!
What's a massive power cut? Lol? Yes been thundering lighting on and off for 5 hours now in Stevenage couple of big strikes. Maybe we heard the one that put your lights out. Just came home from a friend's and it started again

Best storms in my experience happen around the changing seasons - spring into summer or summer into autumn - the clashing of cooler/drier air against the hot and humid air bit like you see in the US - the strongest storms typically taking place around spring and again in autumn
Not normally in uk but last year in october

Thunder in stevenage Herts reds developed out of nowhere. Home grown.

The convective season in central London this year so far, has been nothing short of a disaster. It seems to be a good year for Midlands, again London & SE seeing worst of heat and nothing from it not a drop.
There's been plenty of storms earlier on

I don't think I've ever had constant rolling thunder for over an hour in May, EVER!
I mean, two thunder days already in 2023, what's going on?!?!?
We have had more than 3 now

What happened to status updates lol
This has been well forecasted

Hasn't stopped here in herts since 3pm and more behind it. London Sussex looks free from it but more coming along
10 minutes ago, lassie23 said:I suppose we should enjoy this weather before we hit 45 degrees this summer and become hotter than the Sahara Desert and be rainless for 3 months.
It won't get that hot again this is probably from the heat rising from Spain in recent weeks

Still doing it now hasn't really stopped and more coming

Can't see much happening here later, sea mist has potentially spoilt it. Seems we can only rely on plumes down here with storms in the middle of the night only which is very inconvenient!
Bad luck most of the country has them. Hasn't stopped in herts since about 3pm

Seems like a long long time since any storms made it here, yesterday looked promising, but again failed to deliver.
What's the outlook for the rest of the week?

Just WOW! On a short break in the New Forest, with spectacular views to the South and West, and just had the most amazing thunderstorm experience ever. Knew it was coming so me and my daughter sat in the hot tub, perched on a hillside, and watched it roll in. Once the rain got super biblical we exited hit tub and proceeded to dance around in the storm. Just such a wonderful, memorable experience. The storm passed directly overhead, and was truly awesome. Sadly my phone captures don't quite do it justice but I hope you fellow storm lovers enjoy our insanely unusual storm non-chase
Really stupidly dangerous

All being downgraded now I see. Looks like tomo is a slight to moderate, then Friday probably a slight if lucky, then just probably rain after that, until at least July
Nope cells exploded over south England and bbc said more tonight and to the end of the week July?
