  1. I work in polytunnels and the thermometre stopped at just under 60'c last summer
  2. Oh this is an absolute p**s take now :-( Party island Ibiza is covered in snow as temperatures in Spain tumble as low as -15C | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK Ibiza, famed for its sun-soaked holiday destinations and parties, saw its beaches covered in snow during the unusual cold snap as Spain saw temperatures as low as...
  3. I know, it beggars belief doesn't it? The only saving grace we've had this winter compared to last is a few frosty days, and even those we just dry frosts with no rime/hoar frosts........very, very dull! I think once we get to mid Feb' I jsut want spring to come, it ends the torture that is model watching (which seem to be a vast amount less reliable than when I started to model watch in 2003)
  4. Ofc they'll never get here, that would be too much to ask. I tell you what, if there's ever another ice age, i'm staying in the Midlands, because it'll be the only place in the Northern hemisphere that's still green and ice free!!
  5. The dew point here is already minus 5.2'c!! and the Cheshire gap shows a bit of development atm
  6. Most weather evaporates when it gets to the Midlands nowadays, we've only had one crack of thunder this past year here, considering the heat, that's pathetic!
  7. i can't understand how the plains of India can get a colder wintery spell than us? I swear this country is cursed when it comes to cold
  8. I think we're out of luck again this week for snow. Looks very dry on the gfs, and I know that snow events can pop up at short notice, but for the central Midlands, they just don't anymore. I'm an absolute snow and cold nutter, but I can honestly say I'll be glad when winter is over. At least we can rely on mild weather, and I have lots to do outside this year :-)
  9. Is there a wind storm due? it's really getting stormy out there now, must be gusting into the 40s?
  10. It's looking very, very stormy next week according to the GFS, something which will have to be watched!
  11. I don't know why people are so disheartened this morning, we've just had a brilliant cold spell, the models are all over the shop, so nothing can be discounted, and we may even get transient snow on Christmas even across large areas of the UK wwhich barely had any in last week's spell. Lots to be excited about in the coming weeks! Also, did anyone see the latest information about the Tongan volcanic eruption? It was to powerful it shot water into space!! I fully think that the weirdness of the world's weather this year is entirely down to that eruption, and things that usually go wrond in this country to get cold, will go right this winter. chins up!! https://www.washingtonpost.com/science/2022/12/12/tonga-volcano-water-space/
  12. 13'c in the living room, and a bonny 16'c upstairs
  13. Very weird that they have all flipped back away from cold this morning, I should imagine they will all flip back later on, this is not a normal winter after all.
  14. I don't know if this has been posted, but a a really good analysis from the Met Office for this coming period. And if anything can be taken, it's probably going to stay cold. We really should take this point in time,m to say a big thank you for the Tongan eruption earlier this year, it's really put the cat amongst the pigeons. The only thing that can be taken for granted this winter, is that it will not go to plan, in all the 'mud ern wynter' ways, to which, we have become used to.
  15. Well, that system crossed the border into the Midlands, and vanished instantly!! I'm sure this region is cursed!
  16. I agree with you, I've spent far too many nights radar watching until the point I fall asleep, only to find nothing when I wake up. The latest Arome has it passing over this region as very light patchy showers AM, but unless it really perks up, it'll just be a dusting. The next hope is that Tuesday/Wednesday's system get load further north than forecast, I've seen that happen more often than not when they've forecast that it'll get no further north than the M4 corridor
  17. it's progged to fizzle, but the snow last night was unforecast, so you never know
  18. looks lovely down there We did have a dusting, so it's not been totally in vain here. Hopefully it'll pep up later on and we'll get a little more
