  14. CAP breaking now, convection starting!!!!!! So hot and humid here now. Nice towers in west. Here we go nukies!
  15. Happy New year every1! Today going for USA setup supercells again as the moisture and instability to increase about in couple of hours. Then watch they explode in nuke!!!! Li down to -5 to -9 and CAPE around 2500 to 4000. I will be back in Ballina this afternoon and hopefully to see good storm there!
  16. Thanks guys. I added feature of storm path in last three days across Northern Rivers area of NSW. Sunday 28th December Monday 29th December Tuesday 30th December Cheers.
  17. Tuesday 30th December 2008 Violent HP supercells produce large hailstones and destructive winds Again unusually start of the day with extreme heat and humidity. Maximum temperatures exceeded mid 30’s with heat index towards 40s. Around lunch time a lot of towers and convection has started southwest of Lismore and Casino, and then produced a thunderstorm fairly quickly. It has used up a lot of energy from the cap breakage. After 2pm this storm cell became very severe with some USA setup with approaching dryline which made a strong HP supercell. It came over Lismore produced strong wind gusts up to 80km/hr at times and large hailstones up to 4-5cm along Bangalow-Lismore Road as repeated from 28th December 2008 HP supercell! This HP supercell came over us here at North Lismore producing some extreme straight line wind gusts up to 90km/hr as again since day before with very little rain. The giant hailstones shaft was about a kilometer away from us! We ended up weird 0.5mm of rain haha which ends the year of 2008 annual total. Since the setup of this HP supercell had features of beaver tail (left mover) which came over us with little rain and extreme winds. Strong powerful hail shaft near here towards the east on the hills about Bexhill. Estimated result of instability of this storm cell is: Lifted Index of -15 CAPE about 5500 SWEAT Index ranging 340-450 TT of 50 Approaching HP supercell 2.6mb Scary Theme! 3.4mb Insane winds and great view of hail shaft 4.4mb Great view of cu field behind 3.5mb
  18. Casino cell anvil is over here now, starting to thunder now, nasty pulsie thick crispy RFBs and towers around it! Had first one on edge.....................story will be revealed soon because another HP supercell coming from Casino.
  19. Oh man its again! Nice strong looking updrafts in southwest, first cell to Evans Head and another one behind it.
  20. Monday 29th December 2008 Violent supercells lashes northern parts of Northern Rivers A lovely sunny day started throughout the region with unpleasant heat and humidity encroaches as the sun comes higher and higher in the sky. This has helped the instability to build up until the afternoon severe storms. After 12pm, massive CB towers and Cjs formed around in our skies. Then 2 and half hours later the radar has exploded mass of storms across the North Coast region. Some were detected as supercells and black cores. One violent thunderstorm formed south of Lismore moving towards the northeast associated with the southerly change. Other line of cells joined up this cell shortly after 6pm. Now this thunderstorm became a nasty Hp supercell! Then the gust front became visible from the valley in west. Very dark green and blue clouds marching towards us with some sort of ‘Armidale’ kind of weather as the temperature drops heavily and winds picked up. Very gusty winds were under this and the rain also started at the time. This supercell became berserk as it approaches over us filling with mass of lightning and thunder. Then the backend of the cell smashed us with insane wind gusts up to 90km/hr with some strong ones in microbursts and also very heavy rainfalls. Just shortly the worse came past, again lightning and thunder now even more berserk! I recorded a minute of video clip of it and counted how much of those through and time. They never stop and it became countless! We had over 15mm of rain out of this but unofficially it was about 30-40mm due to straight line winds. Little tree damage reported in area and some lightning strikes hit someone’s shed and got burnt! Approaching supercell 4.5mb Increasing squalls and microbursts 5mb Severe winds and flash flooding 2.5mb Beautiful sunset with lightning 5.5mb Lightning and thunder madness 10mb Enjoy!
  21. Sunday 28th December 2008 Heavy storms explodes across the region Unusually hot and humid start of the day with mostly cloudy conditions with max conditions of 29/24 and 83%. This has helped thunderstorms to fire up earlier than predicted around 11am across southwestern to northwestern parts of Northern Rivers. After 1pm thunderstorms became more widespread across the region with first STW for flash flooding, then edited for large hailstones. One nasty supercellular thunderstorm formed around Coraki shortly after 2pm. This came slow moving due to lack mid level windshear hence caused flash flooding just south of Lismore. Then this supercell moved between Lismore and Ballina towards my east along Bangalow-Lismore Road roaring with thunder and winds blowing strong about 50km/hr from the southeast. We had a bit of rain behind it only about 8mm from non-storm cells.
  22. Hello guys. I had 270mb of videos and photos of insane storm smashed North Lismore. Theres a video clip of 1minute of very nonstop thunder and lightning. Frequently about every half seconds. At start of the storm we were under nasty tornadic green and blue clouds (low clouds) where winds and rain started from. During the storm at backend where sunlight comes through, winds and rain were the strongest. Some gusts up to 90km/hr!! Mircobursts sway trees by the side like going to do a cyclone! Rainfalls should be between 30-50mm. Video and photo files should be uploaded on internet tomorrow. They are already formatted and uploaded on the pc. Cheers Matt
  23. Jeeze nasty cells down south moving northwards. Might be ripper afternoon here in Lismore. Currently 32/23 feels like 37! Phew so muggy and extremely hot one. Just bought Panasonic SDL SW20 today! Its awesome video camera that is useful for all weather conditions such as waterproof, dustproof, windproof and shockproof! Oh man look at those HUGE nasty supercells on Newcastle and Grafton radars!
  24. Guys better watch the GOC tropical low, this would become a cyclone very quickly in 24hours time! Ssts in Gulf is about 32 degrees! Coral Sea about 31 degrees. This would be necessary to become a strong cyclone development due to low shear. Monsoonal trough redeveloping and connecting that low and it will drag it south towards about 20 degrees south line. Another low would form near Solomons Island as the monsoonal trough moves south and would become one off the coast here!
