  1. I believe it's 12.2ºC we need to get to beat 1893 and break the record for the warmest Spring. How likely is it that we will break the record?
  2. The following June was a real shocker though. It took until June 28th just to reach 20ºC here, with several days having sub 15ºC maximums. May had more 20ºC+ maximums than June did that year.
  3. Summer 1999 would be another example with a warm July sandwiched in between an average June and August.
  4. I remember the event, although I don't recall a significant amount of snow here.
  5. I was in Turkey for the first half of September 2006, so I'm not sure what it was like back here. I remember September 21st though, very hot with clear sunny skies (and I believe a date record of 29.0ºC was set somewhere) August 2000 was sunny here, 2001 and 2002 were reasonable with a few hot days. 2003 was clearly the best August of the decade (34ºC here on the 9th). 2004 had a hot start before turning into a washout. 2005 was average overall, with 30ºC right at the end. 2006 was a huge letdown after the record breaking July, 2007 was cool and dry. 2008 was terrible with day after day of overcast skies. 2009 wasn't terrible here, but only one hot day on the 19th.
  6. The nearby weather station at Coleshill has recorded 122.3 hours of sunshine up to the 29th. That's below the 139.6 hours that was recorded in March. Quite dry though with just 22.2mm.
  7. It reached 27ºC here this afternoon. Looking at the records on the site below, it's the equal warmest May day at Birmingham airport since at least 1973 (with 31/5/03 and 27/5/05). http://www.tutiempo.net/en/Climate/Birmingham_Airport/35340.htm
  8. Mainly overcast here, but feeling quite warm and humid. Max was 17ºC, currently 16ºC.
  9. It's only a guess, but here's how I think 2008 will turn out. January: 6.4 February: 5.1 March: 6.8 April: 8.8 May: 12.7 June: 14.5 July: 16.3 August: 16.4 September: 14.0 October: 10.3 November: 6.1 December: 5.1 Yearly CET: 10.20
  10. I'll go for an above average month at 11.5
  11. I've noticed that Edgbaston never seems to appear in any of the extremes, the west midlands must be the place in the UK least likely to get the most extreme weather.
  12. I can't ever remember seeing falling snow here in October, earliest snow that I can remember was in mid November 1988.
  13. Just 2 days above 25ºC here (August 5th & 25th), yearly high was 27ºC which is the lowest here since 1998.
  14. Aren't the Isles of Scilly the least snowiest place in the UK?
  15. September 1980 came very close as well, and was warmer than July in the Manley CET series.
  16. I was wondering, was 30ºC reached at all during June and July 1998, and what were the highest recorded temperatures for each of those months?
  17. Only counting months from when I was born (Dec 1980), this would be my favourite year January 1985 February 1991 March 2003 April 2007 May 1992 June 2003 July 2006 August 1995 September 2006 October 1995 November 1985 December 1981
  18. I'll go for another warm month at 15.1
  19. Although summer 1993 was cool (Highest temperature only 25.5ºC), it was fairly dry here with almost half the summer rainfall occuring on just a few days (June 11th - 25.9mm, July 9th, 17.0mm, July 16th, 10.9mm and August 22nd - 21.1mm).
  20. Looking at the CET list, September has been warmer than June in the following years since 1900 (27 times) It probably happened several more times before as well. 1903, 1907, 1909, 1916, 1926, 1929, 1946, 1948, 1949, 1951, 1955, 1956, 1958, 1961, 1964, 1971, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1997, 1998, 1999.
