  1. Snow starting to settle here now!
  2. Snowing here again but just on the edge of being sleet so not lying
  3. Snowing in Bangor - very wet snow so not lying just yet
  4. Now that shower has cleared - I can see lying snow up in the hills to the North
  5. First snow warnings are out! Snow showers are expected to become increasingly frequent over northern Scotland late on Thursday and are expected across many other parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and western England on Friday. 2-5 cm of snow is likely for some, with 10-20 cm possible over high ground, mainly Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Icy surfaces are also likely to be an additional hazard, especially overnight. Strong northwest winds may cause drifting of the snow in places with blizzard conditions possible at times across northern Scotland. The heaviest and most frequent of the snow showers will progressively become confined to northeast Scotland during Saturday. Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and for train services. Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy and snowy surfaces. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?date=2017-12-08&lat=54.6629&lon=-5.6619
  6. Interesting forecast from met.ie for Saturday : Saturday will be cold and mainly dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees with light westerly winds, gradually backing southerly. At the moment, it looks like rain will spread from the west on Saturday night and will turn to snow for a time as it meets the cold air. http://www.met.ie/forecasts/
  7. Just rain here in Bangor after a burst of heavy hail at about 3pm! The temperature has decreased steadily though - just 2.8C at the moment from an afternoon high of 8.6C
  8. Yeah it's been disappointing here but not unexpected after that forecast on Wednesday afternoon from the UKMO where the snow risk was downplayed. Since that, I wasn't expecting too much so it's not a huge let down personally! Onwards and upwards to the next cold blast
  9. Snowing in Bangor! The flakes aren't melting on impact either and I'm at sea level more or less
  10. Latest UKMO forecast seems to have downplayed the snow risk here - it's still good to see the chance there tonight, but tomorrow not looking as wintry as the previous forecast: Regional forecast for Northern Ireland Cold and quite windy on Thursday with further wintry showers. This Evening and Tonight: Further showers, heavy at times and turning increasingly to sleet and snow. It will be a cold night with strong westerly winds reaching gale force along the North Coast at first. Minimum Temperature 0 °C. Thursday: Sunny intervals and scattered wintry showers. Showers most frequent over west Tyrone with fewer showers and more sunshine over Country Down. Feeling bitterly cold with a fresh westerly wind. Maximum Temperature 5 °C. Outlook for Friday to Sunday: Wintry showers on Friday and it will be windy. Showers turning to sleet on Saturday and still breezy. Winds ease on Sunday, but cloudy with perhaps rain later.
