  1. Currently looks to be more north than the NAE was showing? Seems to be following the GFS track? Unless it suddenly changes direction!
  2. We've had reports from people at work that it's snowing heavily in Daventry - nothing at Ashby though!!
  3. Something weird is happening here - it's now 1.9c and the snow is turning to sleet... I think I must be within a thin bit of cloud as it's really brightening up too.
  4. Well that's strange... it's starting to melt off the cars. For the first time in my life though, I'm actually not bothered if it all melts.
  5. Temperature rising quite rapidly here, it's at 1.1c already - could possibly turn to rain?
  6. Well I've wasted more time trying to get in to work when I could have just logged straight in to work from home (which I'm doing now). I'm actually glad this is the end of the snowy weather now; we've had a good cold spell with plenty of snow, lets get back to normal now.
  7. I'm just trying to help get this "Global Warming" moving a bit... I don't think it's working yet though
  8. Nope that blew up, got a 'Vauxhall' VXR8 now, 6.2 V8, rear wheel drive with 430bhp... absolutely lethal in the snow and has been pushed about 5 times now
  9. We have snow here... just want to say, if you don't have to drive, then don't! It's absolutely lethal out there. I've been gone an hour and 20 minutes, managed to get 3 mile down the round and gave up as nowhere as been gritted. Reports on the radio of several cars coming off the road on the A511, hitting a tree and one rolling - seems they haven't even attempted to grit any of the roads! Really think some questions need answering as to why we weren't prepared... yet again!
  10. Knock, knock, knocking on Birmingham's door... time for bed! Good luck all
  11. Somebody give that thing a push! On another note, anybody ever got a pill stuck in their throat? Quite annoying
  12. Local radio stations are still going for snow overnight for my area; I really can't see it myself! I'm right on the border of Warwickshire in the South West corner of Leicestershire so maybe something will creep over but I doubt it personally.
  13. I'd say midnight at least before it gets in to the West Midlands. Maybe we could place bets on it
  14. The current GFS run is showing that the pptn doesn't push as far inland as it did in previous runs, so, I now declare the East Midlands... out of luck!
  15. I'd say later than that - the front is going to start slowing to a crawl once it bumps up against the cold air/high pressure.
  16. I wouldn't worry about the speed; when it hits up against that high pressure it'll soon slow down... lets just hope that high pressure is a bit further NE than the models think. Looking at that band... oh how I'd love that to stall above us! Or even just reach us with that intensity!
  17. I think Tuesday/Wednesday is going to be a night of radar watching to see how far the front pushes inland - at the rate it's moving, it'll be a very long night too
  18. I think it's going to thaw out slowly so flooding shouldn't really be a problem?
  19. Yeah, I work in Ashby and drive from Hinckley so A447 > A511 and it was definitely a lot worse over here than at home. None of the roads seem to have been gritted though and it took 15 minutes to get down the A511 when it usually takes about 3 minutes!
  20. I'm still sceptical about the MetO and BBC leaving out the East Midlands for tomorrow's snow - the GFS predicted the snow over the Midlands last night/this morning and the MetO/BBC retracted their weather warning... it's still snowing now and we have had several cm overnight, so which forecast it correctly?
  21. I think we all need to do a snow dance to will that front a bit further East tomorrow so it stalls over us
  22. It's very quiet on here today... has nobody else got any snow?
