South Shields have just been on the outer edges of the showers with mostly light snow this morning and the sun had been out quite awhile with no snow melt at all, even the snow on the fence (east facing in direct sunshine)..!! So alpine conditions out there today..

Looks like everywhere between Scarborough and Aberdeen is going to get hammered..Not to mention the Thames streamer dropping quite a bit.. Folk in Kent will not be happy.. . Edit..Ive just looked back on the Radar and Kent did Ok earlier..(thought I'd clarify before I got took to pieces..!!)

Probably because the showers are convective and thus creating strong updrafts.

Hitting me now..has gone really dark..could be "Thundersnow" on the cards..wow its really really dark..! Netweather 5min radar extra.

Just says into Wednesday so I suspect its this evening and overnight snow..

Accuweather reckon its on for us down the east stretching to Carlisle and as far south as Leeds..! Maybe as far as Manchester..Big area..
