  1. Can you do a hike lower down? This way you can still observe the weather with more moderate conditions.
  2. Indeed! We had no decent easterlies for years and now 2 in the space of two weeks! haha Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the following winters as we pleasantly approach the solar minimum.
  3. Still very good with streamers moving from east to west Sat evening into Sunday.
  4. The real fun is going to be after that during Sat and Sunday with the proper cold uppers. Amazing that the models have upgraded the easterly in the last 24 hours. The Aprege was reluctant to show any shower for our region up to yesterday but today is looking fab!
  5. Thank you Steve, I guess that was at the beginning of the cycle.
  6. Very good! Do you by any chance know what is the longest spell of spotless days in the current cycle?
  7. Yes, we need to wait for a couple of days. I guess showers are hard to get picked up from the models.
  8. This is what the precipitation charts were showing before the last easterly but in the end the snow showers were much more widespread. In other words, take no notice. Good to see the UKMO joining the easterly party!
  9. Yes, the UKMO not as good with the easterly although it looks like it could give a northerly a couple of days later.
  10. OMG just check the updated Aprege! Epic afternoon of model watching coming! https://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/arpegee_cartes.php?&ech=114&mode=0
  11. The 12z ICON is phenomenal! https://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/icone_cartes.php?&ech=117&mode=1&map=0&archive=0 Bitter cold easterly by Saturday!
  12. I don't eat meat so if I see it on the supermarket fridge I just pass by.
  13. I will let you worry about them for both of us. Although in reality it is worry about the farmers profits and not about the lambs because the lambs will get slaughtered anyway...
  14. If you have lambs or anything else that is affected by the cold feel free to worry about it - it will make no difference! I will not worry about something I don't need to!
  15. It would have to be something monumental to produce the same results as two weeks ago. Either way, I am not a fair weather watcher and thankfully I have no lambs to take care of.
  16. Snow showers will be great but I am also keeping an eye on frontal snow from the Atlantic as long as it comes in the right angle. No matter what, I am pleased to see the prospect of frosts and wintry weather. Anything that will shorten the long wait for next winter is good for me. By the way, the sun has been spotless for 52% of the days so far this year which is a big reduction is solar activity since last year. The next few winters are looking very interesting!
  17. Let's secure the easterly with the cold uppers and the exact wind direction and then we can see where most of the snow showers will be. I think we will have to wait a couple of days for that.
  18. Just as I thought I would take a rest from model watching till October, here comes another easterly on the horizon!
  19. There will be some very frosty nights if the 6z GFS is correct. It keeps us under the cold air all next week (while the 0z had the Atlantic coming in fast) and as the winds fall light some impressive minimum temperatures are likely.
  20. ICON is not great for picking up showery precipitation. In the last easterly it was showing west of the Pennines to stay dry but that was not the case with a covering of snow for me.
  21. Yes, an upgrade and much less pressure on the Scandi block from the north.
  22. They have also changed the wording a bit to say the wettest conditions will be in southern and central areas while yesterday they said wettest in the northwest. A very odd update with everything thrown in.
  23. Because we want a re-run of 2009/10 but colder! Anyway, today is another spotless day to add to the list.
