      what's your ideal summer pattern then Karyo? Scandi Trough? That pattern shouldn't cause too much Icemelt, if any, and it will also keep things cool here.

      A scandi trough would be nice but also a slack low over the UK giving nice convection and some thunder potential without it getting too hot. Alternatively, a more active jet stream from the west to keep things fresh.

      I've noticed that slack lows have become a rare feature in our summer weather over the last 25-30 years in addition to the general decline in spring and summer thunderstorms. Most of our thunderstorms now occur in the isolated "airmass" variety or with weak warm/cold fronts.
