  6. I am surprised to see a frost in the city centre before October is out. It's been a horribly warm autumn so far but this is something at least.

Drizzle fest here today and nothing promising on the horizon. Some places may grab a frost or two though.

  8. The northerlies has evaporated from the models but at least I got some fog this morning.

I was still in Greece in 1995-1996. It was a very wet winter there and generally cool. One of those frustrating winters that needed the temperature slightly lower to turn the rain into snow. The mountains had metres of snow though.

    3. lassie23

      lassie23

probably get more snow there than here now

    4. karyo

      karyo

So far the autumn has been rather warm in Greece but it can easily change there with a northerly or northeasterly outbreak.

  9. I am looking forward to the extra hour this weekend and planning to spend it in a horizontal position.

Never mind, grab the cold when you can, even if it is in the pre-winter period. Better than endless warmth through autumn and then winter.

Every winter you predict will be milder than average @I remember Atlantic 252  At this rate, our averages should be a good few degrees higher lol.

  19. Mount Agung volcano in Bali is preparing for eruption. It gave a VEI5 eruption in 1963 so this one is worth watching.

It is indeed, unlike last year when early signs pointed towards a front loaded cold winter only for it to all go Pete Tong!

    3. Ice Man 85

      Ice Man 85

Unless the Azores High buggers off to the south west soon, then a cold winter is very unlikely. Its been hanging round like a bad smell and its long outstayed its welcome.

Either that, or we get a tectonic shift to push the UK too far north for any continental influence. Just saying...

    4. I remember Atlantic 252

      I remember Atlantic 252

could well be a winter like this, E v W battle.obviously in the christmas pudding the west will win, bringing stalling fronts and loads of rain, blocking high too far east for the uk

  21. A proper fall of snow in the Pyrenees with a good cover over 2500 metres. I can admire the view from montagne noire but I wish I was there.  ☺

  22. Quite chilly up in the Pyrenees the last few days with a northwesterly wind. There was even a dusting of snow on top of the Caningou mountain yesterday morning. :-)

That quite early for the Pyrenees.

    2. karyo

      karyo

Well, the Canigou is about 2800 metres high so not unusual to catch a bit of out of season snow. It even has a patch of old snow from last winter on its northern side. Temperatures are low for the time of year though even in low ground towns like Prades and the locals are dressed like it is winter. haha

  23. All eyes on Irma!
