  1. Yes, I am surprised about how quiet it is. There is not much difference to last year although we are closer to the maximum for this cycle. Karyo
  2. It's lovely to have some good news here! I normally dread reading this thread! Karyo
  3. Go on, go on, go on, you know you can do it! http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_images/N_timeseries.png Karyo
  4. It was 42 km southwest of Santorini so I doubt it has any relevance to the volcano. Interesting map though as it shows how active western and southern Greece is. Karyo
  5. The solar flux has dropped to 97! Activity remains very low with one little sunshop on the earth facing side of the sun. Karyo
  6. I love the ECM tonight! Plenty of showers, often slow moving and rather cool with some snow on high ground. With the sun continuing to be quiet, southerly tracking lows may be a frequent feature again this summer! Karyo
  7. Agreed! The sun is happily sleeping and occasionally farts a little. Karyo
  8. That's interesting and may give us something to focus on! I don't know why Katla is taking so long. It's been now 2 years since Eya erupted and those two usually follow each other. Karyo
  9. Today's update is showing even lower activity with only one sunspot (1450) and a solar flux of 101! Can we squeeze out a spotless day? Karyo
  10. The ice extent is continuing to look good from where I am standing! http://nsidc.org/dat..._timeseries.png Karyo
  11. The sun remains quiet! Three little sunspots can be seen on the earth facing side of the sun but they are not actively flaring. solar flux:104 http://www.spaceweather.com/ Karyo
  12. Exactly! No tourists come in the UK for sunshine and warmth unless they are confused! Karyo
  13. What does this mean?? Anyway, solar activity remains low, solar flux:110 Karyo
  14. Yes, Etna gives brief but frequent eruptions so she is never boring. I visited once when she was not erupting but need to go again. Karyo
  15. Yes, it happened later in the season but it was closer. Karyo
  16. Indeed! Let's see if we are going to see lava fountains in an hour or two! Karyo
  17. I have been following this link for a few years now and I have never seen the current coverage as near to the average as this! http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_images/N_timeseries.png Obviously, there is the subject of the ice thickness but in terms of extent I've never seen it so good! Karyo
  18. Surely the fact that the ice is still increasing in the second half of March is a big positive! I'd rather focus on that for now and worry about what may or may not happen much later in the season. There was a post by another member on the 3rd February saying that the synoptics for the rest of the winter were not good and that no significant increase was expected! Despite that, the synoptics became favourable since then and where we are now must be a surprise for many people! Karyo
  19. Are we heading for a new peak? http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_images/N_timeseries.png It seems that the spring melt is delayed this year. Karyo
  20. Solar flux down to 99! That's an impressive drop now that sunspot 1429 has gone. Karyo
  21. Imagine if Yellowstone and Santorini erupted at the same time! Ok, I'll get my coat... Karyo
  22. That's indeed true The Pit and I bet there are many similar examples that lead to disasters! Karyo
  23. I like the sound of that Bornfromthevoid! It has certainly been a very good end to the winter season and start of spring. Karyo
  24. Edit: There is also some coverage in the Greek media which I find surprising. http://www.nooz.gr/science/ksipnise-to-ufaisteio-tis-santorinis
