  1. Lovely cold fresh morning with a nice crisp and even frost with some the trees covered Min -2c
  2. Just looked on BBC Weather five day and light snow for Biggin Hill on Saturday. On the model Section one two mentioned possibly of snow showers in the South East.. One minute I am almost writing off winter the next its back on again. This what makes our weather so varied and interesting . Just imagine being in a country that has snow for four months non stop it would become very mundane and boring .Maybe February will deliver for us.
  3. Looking at the 8.2 Kilometer run on BBC sport in Edinburgh this afternoon which was snowbound and very picturesque could we in the South East live with the weather that Scotland gets maybe in the Lower Highlands . Would just love to have their climate .Oh well I just have this nasty feeling that the best part of winter has been and gone. Hope I am wrong
  4. Fantastic Anyone looking at the photos would surely agree that is the reason most of us love cold frosty snowy weather-Beautiful :smiliz19:
  5. Min -.3.2 in Biggin Hill -Fantastic Hoar frost with all the trees coted white as though someone has sprayed them with a glaze affect.,This late November/December has had everything I like about Winter weather bar one thing the thaw on Saturday . Heavy dry snow Easterly winds blowing the snow, Winter sunshine Freezing Fog and now a wonderful winter frost. Next week could be interesting. Wonder if the 6ins of snow in the garden and side roads will last for 12 days and beyond.
  6. Biggin Hill Kent North Downs 34cms and snow coming down heavier now -Bromley Greater London 10 miles from Central London Has 30cms at least
  7. 1962/63 was the coldest winter since 1740 and probably beyond that. We would cope if we had another winter like that we would have to otherwise you might as well say thats it folks were doomed- people adapt and many may be able to work from home. Actually last year I got used to the cold . One statistic which is strange and great, fewer elderly people died of Hypothermia last winter (coldest for more than 31 years than in the last 10 previous winters. My theory is elderly people( I will be one sooner rather than later)forget to put on extra layers when the temps are marginally cold but when it really does get cold friends, family, neighbors make sure they are OK.
  8. Biggin Hill Kent High on the North Downs This Thursday morning
  9. First car scraping of the season- Grass a bit white 0.7c
  10. See all the action in the Med on www.webcamgalore.com -See all webcams world-wide -Always jealous when you see snow falling probably 200 miles away in Europe.
  11. Yesterday Max in Biggin Hill +2.2c min -6.4c so that bloody cold for March with wall to wall sunshine.
  12. last night in Biggin Hill we got down -4.1c and todays max is 2.2c . Thursday night was bitter with a min of -5c and a cold wind.
  13. If you look at the low temp table Biggin Hill is at 2c -well it has reached 2.2c today and is now falling despite brilliant sunshine. 1.6c now . Those max temps are very unusual and maybe because of this cold winter the goalposts have been moved. In some of the mild winters we have endured 2.2c would be considered a very cold day even in mid-January
  14. Sorry what I meant is any marginal situation height makes a difference Your snow was different(lucky people) as you were in much colder air which was not marginal in East Kent-If your colder air had spread it would have given wide-spread snow even to Central London. Folkestone photos were brilliant and we were all hoping it was going to spread further North to London. Jealous course we were. Hope we all enjoy a nice snow day next week.
  15. Snow now stopped but temps 0.05c be quick because I dont think the snow is here for the day. Cheers We have have had snow settling for 8 days out of 14 in Feb -but it does not last for long. Its purely altitude which makes a massive difference Next week should be very interesting for the South East and I hope we all get snowed in for a day -like Feb last year. :winky:
  16. Looking at the models in a very amateurish way .Altitude is going to make a massive difference across the whole country and I think once heavy snow settles then ground temps fall. Incredible really that we are looking at the third consecutive month with the charts looking so interesting. Reading The experts views is just fantastic and I'm learning all the time. Soap opera or what. Since early December I have not had a break from reading the forum posts. Many thanks
  17. Snowing here at the moment in Biggin Hill with a nice covering temp 0.03c -purely a altitude thing -snow wont last but it is nice to look at moment
  18. A Good covering of snow this morning in Biggin Hill-Been snowing for a hour now. Last night snow laid but soon disappeared. Could do well next week because of altitude-Anywhere above 140m will have snow I should think.
  19. Snow easing off -difficult to say but we have a good covering but a sprinkle compared to East Kent
  20. We are over 650ft high and that is making a massive difference as lower down in the Valley its rain/sleet -We had 7ins of snow in January but this snow is coming down heavier than then.
  21. Can you believe the heaviest snow this winter although we had 7ins in January it was fine .4cms and still coming down.
  22. Very snowy in Biggin Hill -3cms and still falling everything white and nice-Trees look alpine
